The dev is going to ios, snap will be discontinued (although it's going to become open source and someone could continue his job)

No need for Snap when you can install Google Play.

Why use Google play apk when you can use Snap native?

Snap is much better because is faster, you can choose when check for updates, and won't get annoying notifications.

You can customise your notifications with the Google Play Store.

It also supports obb file downloads, app purchases, and in-app purchasing. Snap can't do any of that.

But big shout out to the Snap developer. For a while, it was a real lifeline before Cobalt's tools came along.

I personally prefer to use Snap also so I want to thank the dev for what he has done and am sorry to see him leave but it is understandable. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.

If I need to buy an app I go to BlackBerry World. If a dev doesn't bother to publish their apk there, doesn't need my money (maybe I will need to change this policy when BB10 goes EOL in november...)

Thanks for the memories, well, access to apps. Nice that they named a US Wilderness area after you. You are John Muir aren't you!

    :-(

Snap is the only way I know patched apps need to be updated since play store only notifies me of unpatched apps

I'm truly sorry to see you go...

Wrong. The current version of Play Store, which is 5.9.12, notifies about all updates. Be it patched or even from Amazon.

Check my Play Store thread here at Crackberry once a month for the latest updates.

And last but not least a salute to Jim, who actually inspired me to patch Play Store.

It won't shutdown until google changes the play store API
It will just be abandoned, v3 probably won't see the light

We could all just use cobalt's play store, which is definitely easier to install, but i was liking snap

That makes two of us. Huge appreciation to the Snap dev, I love it. Open source is even better, it's on us all to carry it forward. And that's plenty of power in our hands . Beautiful work, you will be missed.

Speaking of patches, after the last two updates of Shazam, it won't open anymore on my Passport - do you know why perhaps? I downloaded it from GP. Thanks.

I too loved snap! There were few apps that I wanted but snap was definitely the easiest way to to get them to start. Thank you for all your efforts, time and frustrations. Best of luck in the future.

I don't understand why devs prefer ios. Lots of competition, and apple treats you like trash. "This is is new screen resolution, will be out in 2 weeks and have no way to try on a real device". "This is force touch, customers will expect it to work from day one, but, surprise, you only have two weeks to implement and no way to try it on a real device"

It's like if BlackBerry says "continue t invest your money and time on BB10, we're committed to 10.3.3, use this 10% coupon to buy a new silver passport" and then after 2 months goes android only and discontinues BB10
