For a new feature or bug fix. The media key should be switched to pause when listening to music or video.

Happy to see the app improving

I have one major suggestion for BKU

Please add an option to activate sayit, in headless mode, by DOUBLE CLICKING the media key, instead of a single click

I find that sayit gets activated by accident when putting my z30 in my pocket.

If you add this option it would also prevent sayit from interfering with trying to pause media

    Dave,

Being a developer myself, I appreciate you backing the developer. But did you see my other posts? Developer is yet to respond to my posts. He didnt even bothered to ask for additional details. As i said earlier i use the latest LEGIT OS and NO LEAKS. Is it UNFAIR to EXPECT DEVELOPER TO RESPOND TO ME?

I think what you asked is UNFAIR. I also agree that this app got excellent ratings and dev gives continuous upgrade. if its loss of one functionality then its fine. But if the app crashes my microphone and prevents answering call and all apps that uses microphone (primary function of the phone), Shouldnt it be treated as PRIORITY one and addressed? Atleast, he can reply the thread, "Hey relax I'm on it" ?

Every time i tried to USE the APP, I end up restarting my BB. I'm fighting here instead of just deleting it , because I LOVE THE APP...

Hey Anand, don't be unfair. If the app doesn't work for you remove it and wait for bug fixes. The dev is very active and helpful; I am sure he is hearing you...

That's exactly what i was looking from the developer after my 11th post (this) and 7th mail. I really don't understand why such a nice application with such positive review crashes on my legit OS.

I also don't know why the developer is not interested in working on the bug.

I appreciate your support to DEV. I shouted at many places for unreasonable blame against developer. If there is a loss of functionality one or two or if i use leak version then its understandable to wait for versions. If just using the mircophone in the app crashs both the app and my microphone and prevent accepting or making any call on my phone and not allowing me to use microphone on numerous applciation then its a P1 BUG with shortest SLA possible. But if the dev is not even assuring with a simple acknowledgement, I'm really sad. Read my posts from teh begining. I posted here after sending 7 mails to dev without any reply. Here i posted several posts But the DEV ignored me I'M angry and anxious.

GET ME RIGHT. I love the app. I appreciate the continuous dev support and upgrade. I badly want to use this app atleast for a day. :-(
Unmm I paid for the app too! The dev didn't even have a z10 when he started the app till someone gave him a LE z. There is a difference between complaining or being rude and advising the dev of an issue or potential bug. Do you think code is written and it works flawlessly with no hicips? Given the countless variables??? Get real!

    Seems reasonable, I agree
Unfortunately as a lone developer it can be difficult to balance support and active development. My experience with SayIt support was not great however I do see him active in this thread and updates do happen. SayIt is a 'popular' app so I can imagine there is a lot of messages to wade through.

Dont Worry about long post. It helps the user also. Thanks for taking time :-)
My theory is that since it is running headless, the phone thinks there is media open, so for example when you have the volume keys set to adjust notification volume, and sayit is running headless, the volume still controls media and not notifications. After a little troubleshooting here is what I found:

If sayit is running headless, and you press the middle button to activate sayit, then go and play music or a video, there is no sound, but if you press the middle again to I guess close your sayit request, then go play a song or video, your sound is back. So effectively when you are pressing the middle key to use sayit, but forget to close the sayit request, you have no sound because I guess the device is trying to take in your sayit request, however if you close the sayit request by pressing the key a second time, sayit is no longer active so you get your sound back.

Edit: after playing around more I have confirmed that this is most likely what is happening:

I have my volume control set to control notification volume.

    Sayit running headless

If I press the middle button to activate sayit, then try to adjust notification volume, it adjusts media volume not notification volume, and if I play a song or a video there is no sound.

If I press the middle button again to stop sayit, then try and adjust the volume it now adjusts the notification volume again, and if I play a song or video my sound is back.

So in essence, when you purposely or accidentally hit the middle button once, it opens a sayit request (for lack of a better term), and this makes the phone think there is media running, so it's like if your playing a song, then play a video, the song stops and video takes priority, or the other way around, so sayit must be taking priority over media, then when you close the sayit request, the media mode or whatever sayit is taking control of stops, and you can continue on with your other media.

Not sure if I would classify this is a bug or just user error for opening and not closing the sayit request. But maybe there should be a timeout, or something in the top to show sayit is open and accepting a voice request. Maybe make the media "play" icon show up to signify sayit is actively listening? And then that can show a user they need to close the request.

I'm running 1055 leak. Sorry for the long post, but just wanted to be clear with my findings to help the dev out.

Edit2: sorry but another finding, if I am playing a song and there is sound, and then press the middle key to make a sayit "request", it cuts off the music sound until I close the sayit request. What I find weird with this though is that it doesn't pause or stop the song, it just cuts out the sound and the song keeps playing with no soynd, and when I close the sayit "request" by pressing the middle button again, the song sound comes back on.

I too had no sound after this update. But only sometimes. Think I accidentally hit the pause button at times.

If you have no sound push the pause button again (small button in between volume up and down). Then see if you have sounds back. It's worked for me.

Hopefully this issue gets ironed out soon on next update.

    Cheers.

Running .1925 since it came out. No real issues until this week.

I went to play audio on bluetooth today, and could not hear. I could hear other system sounds, just not music. I went and opened SayIt, and it would not work. I could not change to different menu views, and could not get it to listen for a command.
I did an up/down volume reboot, and when it boots, it gets stuck on 100% and never boots to home screen. Subsequent reboots gets to 99% and then it reboots.

This is the second time I've gotten into this problem where it gets to 99/100% boot but not to home screen (first time the other night, and I restored from a backup from Sunday night). I suspect this is due to headless apps. I really suspect SayIt is the cause, but Watcher or another headless app could be the culprit, but I'd put $5 on SayIt being the bug.

This time when I restore, I'll be uninstalling SayIt and waiting for a better tested version.

If anyone else runs into 99/100% boot and get stuck, please let me know. Thanks

    Bugs and new features
Media controls is being conflicted with the middle button, when music or video is being played sayit should be temporarily disabled.when I click disable background process it doesn't actually do it.

It should time out depending on the settings you have set. "Should " it could be bugged.

After I updated Sayit, my Z10 lost all sounds. They returned after I deleted Sayit. Someone else on the forum had this problem. Is it a known issue? I'm running 10.2.1.1925
Issue exists on 1259. I've had to delete the app.

    Hi,

Can you implement a timeout so that Sayit will assume the user accidentally press the button and forgot? This is getting confusing as there are no visual indication on if Sayit is listening or ending.

This is tricky because there is a chance somebody could be using SayIt to record something quite lengthy. Perhaps an option in the settings to set the standby time or disable timeout.
