I think this Radio App (actually spelled rad.io is incredible and perhaps the best radio app I've ever used. I probably won't use any other radio other than the FM radio in the blackberry os.

My question is that since this is a streaming app would it be best to stick to using it when connected via wifi? If not on wifi are streaming radio apps such as this one data killers?

    Thanks to all that reply.

Yes most all streaming apps are data "users".... I would try it and what how much data it uses. For me and my 2GB limit it is not worth using one of these when I'm on the road.

If you stream a lot (couple of hours a day is a lot already) I would advice you stick to WiFi. As was already said, you could try it out and monitor the data usage and decide for yourself if it's worth it.

For proper sound quality it probably streams at 128kb/s. That's 7680kb/m or 960 kilobyte per minute, which amounts to roughly one megabyte. If you have a 2GB data limit you can stream for 2000 minutes, or 33.33334 hours - provided that this is your only data usage. This is also very simplified.

Either way, streaming is not worth it unless you have an unlimited data plan. Video is of course about ten times as bad.

    Thanks everyone that replied.

I think I'll stick to listening to the stations on this app while I'm wifi connected.

Thanks again for the replies all.
