Coming from Windows Phone I have noticed that there are not as many free apps and also more apps are >$1.99.

    BBWorld apps are expensive!

Anyone else notice this as compared to Android or iOS as well?

I would say not as many free apps, or at least free versions, compared to iOS or Android.

I can say many games in particular are lower priced than the iOS versions after spending some time in App Store on MiL's new iPad mini.
No idea why so many devs offer different pricing on various items on each platform.

BlackBerry10 platform has the smallest number of users (compared to iOS, Android, Windows Phone) - so for the same app there will be fewer downloads than on the other platforms.

So, because developing costs are comparable (or a little higher for BlackBerry10 as a new platform to get familiar with), the apps must be priced higher in order to recover the costs.
