I'm looking for a way to password protect access to BBM on my Q10.

Prior to the BB10 OS, there were a couple popular apps that did this but I cannot find anything done for the Q10. The app is simple (in theory). It just asks for a password prior to being able to launch BBM.

Any ideas? Or if there is a setup somewhere I missed on the Q10 that can do the same thing, help would be appreciated.

Why not just password protect the whole phone in security.

Fair question. I want to be able to hand my phone to others to use (kids, colleagues) without them wandering into sensitive conversations in the BBM. Just erasing those conversations isn't complete protection since incoming messages could land there while they had the phone. I can control this in hub by not having BBM show up there, but need someway to password protect BBM so they can't snoop in there.

Good thinking. It does, but with the following limitations...

Parental controls wipes it from the screen, so to get it back I have to go Settings --> Security --> Parental Controls --> Password --> scroll and flag it back on. Then it takes several seconds to reassociate.

The second limitation is that adding parental controls massively scrambles the order of your icons. A complete pain in the ***. Dunno whether that will happen every time I make an edit to the parameters. If so, then this goes from being a clunky workaround to one not worth it.

But thanks for the idea. Didn't even think about that!
