I hadn't tried BlackBerry maps via foursquare with the latest update so I just did a trial run. I picked a couple places I've been and a couple places I haven't. Both worked fine. Hmm... strange.

Maybe try giving it a more detailed address... If its giving you ones from new york then you need to enter the state.

I'm in PA searching for an address that's only 8 mins away and search results are giving me addresses from new York over 3 hours away.

Is there a way to change the settings on this crappy contraption? Why is it saying searching for locations near map centre???!! Worthless

Lots of people suggest Google Maps - however a much better option (IMO) is WAZE - either the version in BlackBerry World or directly from the Play store (via SNAP) _ Of course you'll need to be running BlackBerry10 for that..

I have the latest bbmaps and foursquare, I don't know if foursquare is giving bbmaps with just the establishment name or exact coordinates because it is always "no results found"

Sorry, but I tried this in Google with this address...9000 Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental, but no luck. We have a university with the same name in Canada so I was getting that location as being closest to me. When I tried it in Four Square, I couldn't get it. Is this in the Philippines?

That is the key. For the poster trying to find Xavier University Gym, there are different addresses for the same place at least from his snap shot to a Google Search. When I search on my computer for this facility using his address I get St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati...using Google. You have to go to Corrales Ave, (not Street) and then pick out the different spots, using Google.

I've used BB Maps numerous times, each time it's done a very good job, no problems. Maybe your service provider? idk but works for me here in north NJ.

Okay I just tried Pizza Hut in Stockholm, Sweden, ( I'm in Canada). It went to Klarabergsgatan 56 Stockholm, immediately. Let me experiment. The only time this has happened, is when we had a security protocol at work, (so if this is a work issued BB you may have restrictions). Our IT policy was modified and now it works. My latest BB Map is 10.2.1.778
Okay, I tried your location for Xavier University Gym. It doesn't go from Four Square to BB Maps....but if you enter Corrales Avenue, Cagayan Do Oro City, Philippines, BB Maps takes your right there. I'm not sure what is missing from Four Square's address, but its one of those key descriptors. Now to be fair, there are a heck of a lot of institutions with Xavier in them. You would have to get the address accurate, even when I tried in Google, you have to be precise otherwise it takes you all over the world.

So basically foursquare is pushing(?) address to bbmaps instead of coordinates? I noticed that there are only few establishments that are registered in bbmaps in my area (cagayan de oro city,9000, philippines)

P.s. It's xavier university - ateneo de cagayan's gymnasium ground floor is where the coffee shop is located

I have been disappointed with the search from time to time. When that happens, I just search for the correct address in the browser, copy and paste to the search bar in BB Maps. Not difficult. As far as entering an address, we all learned how to compose a proper address in 4th grade. And I would hope that if one has a drivers license, they can use their brains to choose the best option that shows up in a search result. Also, my current location is always the default option whenever I choose to navigate to a location.

yes BB map not available in Asia such a dumb thing, where Blackberry is a very trusted brand and has loyal customer, still Blackberry is not loyal to them.
I use NavFree (android ported) which works offline too no internet required.

To be clear, for me, when I type McDonald's Restaurant in BB Maps location line I get at least 10 local McDonald's. So for Four Square to link correctly to BB Maps in the Philippines they will have to get the location descriptors to match... it may be a simple adjustment, but I don't know. Can you search for McDonalds in BB Maps where you are?

I don't use Foursquare since I really don't care to broadcast to everyone every place I go, so I don't know how it pairs with BB Maps. I do know you can make a location part of your Favorites list, then it shows on the map. Also any address in your contacts can also be made a Favorite in BB Maps.

Yes, correct. If you put in your favourites in BB Maps, you've got them. Then again, you probably know where you are going by that time.

It could be that your device is struggling to lock on to a GPS signal? Is it a cloudy/overcast day? Are you amongst tall buildings that may prevent the GPS from receiving a location?

BlackBerry maps has been rock solid for me.
