Hilarious lol...when someone asks what is the benefit of WhatsApp nobody can answer it. Shows how much we really need the tool.

Actually, that may not be the case. When you're in a roaming area, data is also WAYYY more expensive. Since WhatsApp uses data, you'll be paying if you keep data on (unless you're on a wifi network, of course).

What WhatsApp allows you to do is (since you're in Canada), keep in touch with your friends in the US for free, assuming you have a data plan.

By the way TextMe is free and works on all my devices, playbook and z10 and iphone 4 and my kids sony xperia ion.

Yes its sideloaded onto the playbook and z10, yes text anywhere to anywhere for free.

I live in Canada so if I go to the u.s.a can I text for free using whatsapp?
yeah, whenever i travel, it works no issues. I just switch to airplane mode and flip on the wifi and whatsapp works no problem... (if you go to the US and have data allowance for the states it will work too if not --> they will charge you roaming fees). wifi definitely though!

There is so many texting apps out there, whatsapp, wechat, textme, text plus and more, plus the standard texting app from the phone provider.

Thank you for your patience . . I think I'm staring to get it . . All I do is text family and friends in the states so since my usage is so limited I guess I couldn't see the broader benefit.
As well as the benefits already mentioned you can see whether your message has been delivered and tell if it's been read by seeing when the recipient was last on line.

Development mode is used to install any application not through BB World. EX would be if you were to sideload an application. initially for allowing developers to load their app on the device and test it.

All works great thus far. Only thing I'm noticing is there is no icons you can send. And some contacts just show me their phone number and their display picture. So I go to add them into contacts via the option in whatsapp but its not responding to that command.

Other then that you can chat with others no problem!!

This app is through BB World and device must be in development mode to download and install it.
