As a long time BlackBerry user I remember the days when Nobex was the best radio app around, and a real pioneer in the field. Now radio apps are ten a penny I think it's perhaps less well known on BlackBerry - but it's still outstanding. In fact, as someone who spends just as much time with Android as BlackBerry, I think their BlackBerry app is actually the best radio app on either of the platforms.

So that's it - Nobex is a great radio and podcast app (and how good the podcast aspect is is one of the things that pushes it into the upper echelons for me) - if you haven't tried it and are looking for a radio and podcast app then consider checking it out.

    It is great indeed
Have used it since Legacy OS and still continue to use it on my Z10 due to the lack of a built-in FM Radio and because I just love how the app functions and works

I was surprised at how well Nobex hangs together for a free app; it stands up very well to paid-for alternatives, and on a Q10 at least has made some good design decisions to maximise useful information. bPod suffers in comparison in this area IMO.

It's mostly of interest for me as a podcast app - a relatively new addition to it's functions, but again thoughtfully implemented. That said, it's insistence on storing podcasts on the device and in it's own "special" folder was enough to kick me towards bPod, but if you get through your podcasts faster than I do, it's likely not an issue.

The app Bpod can save to the sd card. I have both and prefer Nobex for podcasts that I would only listen to once.

While the saying "If it isn't broken, don't fix it" generally holds true, the last time this app was updated was April 2013. That's just about a year and a half ago. For the most part I tend to stay away from apps that do not show continued developer interest. Even the free ones.

Big fan of Nobex for podcasts, but I do wish there was an ability to playlist podcasts for long trips. It's been a great app otherwise.

bPod has a sensible default naming policy for podcasts as well - each podcast has its own suitably named subdirectory, and each individual episode is named in a way that makes it easy to identify.

This means you can copy them around and still understand what they are, or play directly off the device over USB using your PC / Mac

got this email from nobex, seems like theyve updated the app for every platform bar BlackBerry 10.

This is the type of thing that really endeared me to them. Thanks nobex

In fairness, the BlackBerry app is much, much, much, much (you get the idea) better than the Android app, which doesn't include podcasts and has a worse and ad filled interface.

I agree with you the app is very well done for BlackBerry. However an update allowing us to save podcasts to the memory card would be a nice touch.

I mean if they're updating their apple and android apps...

Usually my rule as well, but I make an exception for the "big name" native apps if they continue to run well. (Also see: Crackle.)
