I can not believe BB10 is still lacking the macros to do complex tasks. Sure it is nice I can jump in my car and send an email or text. By now I would think it would be possible to BBM a short OMW message and the follow up with a Glympse all from one NFC tag. What about coming home pairing to your Bluetooth speaker, launching favorite music app then playing your favorite mix. NCF convenience comes when you combine multiple tasks into a quick tap. Why are we no closer now than when BB10 first launched?

The ability to "print" multiple commands is already there.

The problem is the array of commands is still a tad thin.

You can actually do quite a lot with NFC Macros. A lot of them are unfortunately hidden. Opening BBM and everything inside is definitely possible right now.

That is unfortunate. Has BlackBerry indicated they will be revealing them anytime soon? Sure would be good to have a more powerful NFC writing app.

Can you give more examples of what is lacking? It seems you are not super familiar with Smart Tags current implementation and should take a look. I'm pretty sure all but the Glympse and BBM (but text always there) examples you listed have been there for well over 1 year, maybe even from launch.

You are limited by the memory of the tags as to what you can (ie 512 bytes is a big tag). But you can also purchase apps like MyProfilesLight NFC that can do more with small tags but would only work with BB10 using that app. EDIT: Looks like Pro is $0.99 and gives you the ability to send BBM and update BBM avatars.

What you really could have complained about is the lack of Glympse and BBM options from Smart Tags. That is something I wanted since Glympse came to BBM and actually filed a request with BlackBerry beta app.

I didn't know BBM was opened up (according to xsacha above), must be to the developer API's and smart tags not updated yet.

Just search some of the older NFC threads for what people have already done (ie, get in car, turn off wifi, turn on bluetooth, send text, etc).

While BlackBerry is lacking in some regards and could be better (ie, Tasker on Android), its much more useful than iOS

To do what, specifically? There is no mention of NFC for that app in the description.

You can launch an app in BlackBerry Smart Tags already.

    For newbies:
Macros - DETAILED macros were amazing in BBOS WITH the older version of this app / was one of the busiest threads on CrackBerry, dev was always helping write + debug macros. Believe the main dev is no longer with fonware.

Do you think we will ever be able to use NFC stickers without having to unlock the phone each time? Kind of eliminates the time saving point if them having to go through unlocking your phone. May as well do it in the quick settings if you have to go as far as turning on and putting password into the device....
