    Hi,
I wanted to announce my new application here, called MediaX. This is a native cascades BlackBerry10 Plex client. I wrote this because of issues I had with the android version, no other reason. I believe it is faster than an android app, and integrates better into the core OS than an android app can, and for those of you who are familiar with my apps and my method of work, you will know I am committed to adding new features and supporting people all the way.

Now allows transcoding of media for better compatibility
picks up full details from your plex login account
    play your media anywhere.
miracast ready for playing on your home television (requires miracast hardware)

Why bother with this instead of the droid version you may ask? Well consider these extras over the android version:

    - integrates into BlackBerry10 search from home page, so you can find the media you want to play with a simple search and be up and running in moments

    - acts as a share target for URL's with video embedded in them - share a web page to MediaX, and any compatible embedded videos will be added to your myplex queue to be watched later

    - Integration with 3rd party app Upfront

    - Integration with hardware media controls

    - Integration with Pebble smartwatch - stop and start your video from your phone.

    - BBM Connected app

    - Share currently playing details via social media (BBM, twitter, facebook etc)

Now available in BlackBerry World for 2.00 GBP (tier001 app). A cup of coffee in starbucks costs you more...

Nice but how is it more than just using Plex from a browser?

well, its all opinion I guess, and I suppose I'm a little biased, but lets try and win you over . It has some advantages over the browser for the same reasons has some advantages over the android app in my view. Did you read all of my admittedly longish post above? I listed all the areas i think it's better than the android app. These also apply over using the browser too. I am pretty sure you can't add to the myplex queue, search for any of your media with BlackBerry universal search , integrate with BBM, or any other of those features using the browser.

This app is one that I intend to add in more features as time goes by, frankly i already have a beta version with more bells and whistles anyway, but that's for the future....

Any chance of getting Chromecast support for this app? Thats the main way I use plex using my Nexus 7 but I would love to be able to use my Z10.

i wrote this app partly to explore a way to do this with chromecast in more depth. i never make promises I can't keep, but hear that you want it, and I will be looking very hard at what I can do , rest assured on that.

I am the developer of cast , which is why I say quite assuredly, its far from trivial. But I will look at what can be done.

    cheers!
