No natives for this? Do I have to side load?

Ah I see. Thanks for the reply. I wish the official 10.3 would come quickly.

Uber is a car service app that allows you to request a car, track, and pay all via your mobile phone and with no actual cash, credit card or info exchanged between you and the driver. Also, the cars are new, big, clean and the drivers are nice, professional and dress well -- speaking from my experiences in NYC.

It's not as cheap as a taxi, but you can choose which type of car you want to get you (difference prices), and the prices change based off of demand, so calling a car during peak traffic hours will increase the price of the ride, which is forecasted for you in the app beforehand, so there's no surprises.

So you could in theory ask for a car with a large trunk and a driver that does not ask questions. Awesome.

Just kidding, that actually sounds almost like a Limousine service which is totally awesome.

Just emailed Uber via their website to ask when OS10 app would be released, this was their reply:
Mobile site or the side load. At least it's something.

Wait, really? Is the app in Beta World native or an Android port?

This might be of help to some people.

I already had a Uber account, and was using the app Ober from Beta Zone. However, when I updated to 10.3.1 via autoloader, the app disappeared from my Beta Zone. So, I tried accessing the mobile website (https://m.uber.com).

Unfortunately, the mobile site was not accessible and I was told to go to (http://t.uber.com/support) where you can explain your situation. Be sure to specify your device, OS and email address. Their customer support is very prompt. In a couple of hours, I got a response saying that they had enabled access to the mobile website for me on my Q10.

Now, I am a happy camper. I just used Docushortcut to create an icon that points to https://m.uber.com, and use uber that way. Works exactly like Ober used to, no other app needed.

This is a good question, to which I do not have the answer, but am very curious. Surprised Uber support didn't suggest it.
Actually, I just realised they were probably talking about Ober and not an official Uber app.

I'm on 10.3.1 and the android version generally works perfectly. In times of connectivity issues (has happened a couple times in NYC) I use m.uber.com (I have it saved as a shortcut in a "redundant" folder) and it works perfectly.

Is it any wonder BB is not going to be around much longer? I can't even get a useful app like Uber in Blackberry World? Why would I be willing to sideload or use a workaround when I can simply download an app on any iPhone or Android and it works immediately? I can't wait for my mobile contract to come to an end...

Yeah I have used both too, I still don't know what the difference is, the mobile site is just as good as android app. It's a good alternative for people that don't want to sideload the android app.

I can also confirm that the Android version of Uber, installed via Snap, works well.

The Web interface is annoying. After going through the process of signing up, I can't even access the mobile site until they give me permission from the support link. It's such a turn off. Now I have to wait for God knows how long before getting permission.
