A friend is in the US and he sent me his eleven digit number to add him on what'sapp so what I would normally do is to go to my contacts app add the contact then it would be automatically added to my what'sapp contacts list but this time around it isn't the case how do I add this number so I can be able to chat with him BlackBerry Q5

US phone numbers are usually 10 digits, a 7 digit local number plus a 3 digit area code (or state/region) number, and then the US itself for the rest of the world has a world code of 01, perhaps he forgot the leading zero? try adding a zero at the beginning of the 11 he gave you, especially if it started with a 1.

You have to add the country code. I'm in the US and to add my German friends I have to add 011-49-area code minus the 0-number. My German friends add my by 001-area code - prefix -number (011-870-555-1234)

I have hyphens in my German contacts 16 digit number.

try call the number first if it connects then it legit number so you can save it and it will add to your WhatsApp contact

Ask him to message you on what's app..when you get the message you should see the number in whatsapp.then just add it to your contacts

Yeah this can only work if he can see you on whatsapp..when I shifted to to my z10 I too had a few contacts that wouldn't show even though I imported contacts from my bold...the easiest solution I found was that my friends message me and I just add them through whatsapp or (this was possible since these were my close friends and we have a group) you can have a friend who can see you and everyone else you need to create a group with everyone in it and when you the group on what'sapp just see the list of all the members in the group and you should see all the number you don't have..then just simply add

If you can call the number from your phone then there will be no issue, my buddy is in ATL GA, his number is stored as +1-404-xxx-xxxx, I can call him and we chat with WhatsApp no issues.
