Huge news for all the developers and text typists alike! Helium's developer Lingnan Dai has just made the source code available under the BSD license and released the bar file at https://github.com/lingnand/Helium. Helium is one of the platform defining apps for BB10 and one of the most powerful text editors and mobile IDEs ever created. Let's show support with stars on GitHub and contributions, even if it's just a new color scheme or a syntax file. A massive thank you to Lingnan!

I think this is a ground braking move Lingnan done there... yes thank you very much Lingnan this is a great gift much appreciated.
Did payed for the full version a long time ago myself and never regretted it, Helium is definitely part of my main native BB10 app stock, wouldn't go without it.

Releasing an app to the public after the ecosystem's only store dies is "ground-breaking"?

Appreciated, sure. But pioneering and innovative?
