I can't find a decent IM app that uses your google account and includes group chat.
I used to use IM+ , beejive, ebuddy, etc.
But they don't support group chat anymore.
Some apps like messenger IM claim to do it but its really just some sort of external client Group that is over my head.

Other people must have come across this by now...

I agree with you to an extent but it's taken 2 years to get the majority of my extended family on one common messaging platform. I really don't want to force them to change.
I have no issues with forcing colleagues to email instead of IM'ing me.

    Hi,

I am working on a Hangout client (Hg10, Free, http://forums.crackberry.com/app-ann...client-976087/ ), and I know that the issue is because all these clients you mentioned (so as mine) use the old gtalk service.

When google moved to Hangout, they broke few things such as group chat, audio & video call. Which are now only available via the Hangout API, and not by the old gtalk service.

So for now, it is not trivial to bring it back since the Hangout API rely on a plugin from Google which is not supported on the BB platform.

PS: advertisement O at least my app' support the synchronization of conversations between devices

Just use facebook or what's app group chat then. Most people use those 2 apps. I live in waterloo, no one has a blackberry anymore but everyone uses bbm here.

you can talk to people on the site. You just wont get any notifications or anything. There is no 3rd party app in BBworld or google play. That is legit your only option.

    I don't see it...

Anyway, there are third party clients on BlackBerry world, like blackberry 's gtalk or Hg10. I will stick to that.
