Wanted to let everyone know that we have built a native BB10 VoIP App that we think you guys will love. Its free to receive calls and to make calls to North America. Use it from anywhere in the world where VoIP is permitted. (Remember, some countries block VoIP). Enjoy! Just search ePhone in App World.

Don't follow the link - just launch BlackBerry World and search for Ephone and you should be able to download it.

I've been waiting for an app like this for BB10!! Only complaint is it won't call saved numbers with the leading country code on it (ie. 1 for North America) and you can't paste numbers into the dialer.

    Maybe this link works better?

Works fine for me, very clear. My only issue is calls seem to get partially garbled after say 10 minutes.

    Has anyone else experienced that?

Garbled audio while app is in background is a known BlackBerry issue that will be resolved with OS 10.2. The issue is related to lack of resources while the app goes into the background. For now just keep the app open in foreground while on calls.

I do. Doesn't help. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does, calling back just gets you back to the same problem.

    Hi comwave,

Thank you for making this app available to us. It is great to have a second number on my z10.

In blackberry world, the app is described as "preview". Is this app currently in an unsupported beta phase? Like other posters here, I'm having audio trouble with it. The other person cannot hear me and I can't hear the other person. On the same wifi at home, Ephone works perfectly on my PlayBook.

While reading through FAQ, I was left with the impression that I needed to purchase international minutes for the app to work. After depositing $5, the audio problem remain.

Can you advise us on the official support channel for the app?

ePhone audio issues only arise when the app is in background. This is a known issue with OS 10.1 which Blackberry is committed to fix in 10.2. If you keep the App in the foreground you should have no problems. Please email support or ask here and we'll be happy to help.

This is a supported App. Its is in "Preview" because of some known limitation and the lack of ability to recieve calls when the App is closed.

For people using this app on z10, can you please post your OS version? I'm running 10.1.0.4543 which hasn't been tested by comwave. I get no audio even though the call is connected. Trying to decide if I should go back to carrier released OS.

I don't think it ever got much publicity when it launched but it's a superb VOIP service and completely free.

The version released on Aug 5 fixed all audio problems on my Z10 running 10.2.0
1047. I have been running it for more than 48 hours now. If you set the audio quality to high, the sound is even better than 4G. I subscribed to the voice mail for $10/year. If a new voicemail arrives, you will be notified through email or SMS. Sweet!

Has anyone been able to setup the call forwarding?

I may add the VM also. The update is excellent, sound quality is good and stays that way now. Used the service a lot this week at the cottage.

Anyone else running 10.2.0.1047 and the screen goes black after you dial a number. The call screen pops up and then 3 seconds later it goes black.

It's too bad it didn't. I'm surprised I couldn't really find a crackberry item on it. I think I did see some old ones about the PB version, but not BB10.
Anyhow, I downloaded it and set a number up. Have set the call quality to medium but have yet to try making a call to a friend in the US. Think I'll give that a shot later today. Pretty excited about it, the app looks quite simple but seems to be running well.

After using it for a while now my only complaint is the odd dropped call. The call quality is good, talked to my mom for an hour this week with no issues. I think she wants to get a Q10 so she can get the app too. LoL
