So with all of the time I spend using this app on my Z10 reading posts and looking through forums, I began to wonder... how much battery life could I save if this app had a dark theme? Crackberry always mentions when an app gets dark theme support, it is a big deal to some people, but when are you guys going to do it?
The Z10 being a LCD vice AMOLED, you wouldn't see any battery life increase if the app were light theme vs. dark theme. The backlight is on all the time regardless of what colour (or lack of colour) there is on the screen.

Inquiring minds want to know.

On my Z30 the CB10 app does utilize the dark theme. What OS are you running? Maybe your CB10 needs to be updated?

I only noticed the black theme once I got a Q10 for work a, like you, my personal device is a Z10.
I know I have read that for the LCD screen of the Z10, white is actually slightly better for the battery. But for an OLED screen like the Q10 or Z30, black is much more efficient.
The BlackBerry Q10 and Z30 have Amoled displays, which shows the white as blacks to save battery life that's why the Calendar app, Settings, Phone App etc are in a dark theme by default.
The Z10 has a LCD screen, and doesn't possess that feature.
Unless given option, there's now way you can change the CB in a dark theme.
CB10 on the Z10 does not feature a dark theme -- one of the reasons I use the Android version instead. I realize there's no battery life benefit, but it's an aesthetic preference.
The lack of a dark theme / light theme option for the CB10 app is a source of contention for many on here. Hopefully the app developers will stop dragging their feet and implement it already as its long overdue at this point.
We've been waiting on a dark theme option for us regular LCD screen users ever since the app was released.
The last update was last December, and it was hoped the option would show up.
But, no. Denied again.
The option can be put into the app. Other apps offer the option. Without it, the app uses the system OS theme based on device. That's why you Q10 and Z30 users get a dark theme - that's system wide on those devices. The Z10 defaults to the light theme and we get no choice about it.
BlackBerry only teases us with the inclusion of a dark theme option that started in 10.2.0 for only 4 system apps - contacts, calendar, texting and BBM. That's it. Why they didn't provide a system-wide option is beyond me.
I downloaded the Android CB Forums app and it has a dark theme. Yea I know...we want it for the native app too. Until we get it the Android one is nice.

Now that's funny download an android Crackberry app just to get a dark theme. Ironically I just saw something about a dark theme on the hub from CB.
I would love that feature as well. A dark theme on my z10 for CB10. I know it won't save any battery life but it looks nice. I have changed my BBM and text messages to dark theme. It's actually easier on the eyes and looks better as well. Let's hope BlackBerry can bring the dark them to the HUB as well.

I actually didn't download it to get the dark theme. I didn't even know it was dark. I just wanted to try it out and then discovered it was dark. I have kept it on my phone and switch between using it and the BlackBerry version.
