:)
looks great. I use this & 2 other to-do/lists apps. This one is by far my favorite. Hopefully with these changes I will be able to get rid of the other 2 :)
2 questions.
- What's "Dark Notes"
- It's my understanding that Corky Notes 2.0 was going to have calendar integration. Is this still the case? Just wondering because I didn't see any calendar settings.
Posted via CB10
Dark Notes is one of appearance settings where the brightness of the note becomes low and the color of the text becomes white. It looks good on some backgrounds.
Regarding calendar, we encountered some problems integrating the calendar but we wanted to push out tabs asap so we decided to delay the integration. It will come, just can't give you a firm date.
Just out of curiosity, which other two todo list apps do you currently use?

Speedy Checklist ($1.99) - Works well enough as a very basic checklist for groceries, but doesn't do anything else.
Workahol ($1.99) - I sometimes use it's list, but mainly use it for tracking expenses when I see something in the store & I'm not sure if it's a good price or not, I record the item. It's price & then see what it is elsewhere. I also used it once to track my expenses on a trip & it worked quite well. For me this app is not very user friendly as I often have issues taping on what I want on my Q10. I have seen someone use it on their Z10 & they had no problems selecting items. Maybe I just have big fat fingers :P
I have yet to find an app that works as well as what I had on my 9900
As soon as I saw Corky I fell in love with it. I suspect it will soon be everything I need in a simple, beautiful package.
I have yet to see any BB10 apps with calendar integration. I'm hoping that with 10.2 we will see apps with calendar integration, notifications & alarms.

Well it was a bit of a long shot. Perhaps you could add a screen to let users setup a quick list of 8 categories from a much larger list. In place of a telescope icon you could have a star.
Cheers,
Ian
Could you expand on this? What do you mean set up a quick list?

Just got an interesting idea about everything you said. I'll look into what we can do.
As for calendar integration, we are still learning how we can achieve it so as we find out, we will be able to add it!
Thanks for the great suggestion, hope to hear more!!

I hope that idea was about expenses tabs ;)
To me that's not a huge deal (calendar integration is more important....though I suspect full integration may not be possible until the 10.2 API's)
I'm have a few more ideas but am waiting till I get my hands on 2.0 & have put it through it's paces B4 mentioning them. More options make s the app more powerful. The hard part is adding them while still keeping the app uncluttered & simple to use ;)
However if you want a suggestion, here's one. If you have added a new note, and not moved it away from it's default center, the next one lands on top. Maybe make it so that it detects the previous note, & places the new one slightly down & to the right. OR even better, looks for a blank area with no notes, & places the note there.
The way it is now:

The way it could be: [down & to the right]

The way it could be: [filling empty spaces]

My vote's for #3 (once the center is used, it tack's the new notes where it see's corkboard)

Yes, keeping the app's simplicity is important and I'm sure we're doing fairly good job at it. Like you mentioned, the app can get cluttered with increasing number of notes - this is the real challenge: providing consistent user experience during entire time users use the app.
Two improvements we made to the app to attempt to solve the issue above is tabs and new method of creating notes.
In version 2.0, you create notes by double tapping at an empty area of the cork board! Then, a new note will "sprout up" at the location you've double tapped. We found this solution to be extremely easy to manage when dealing with large number of notes.
We are continuously looking for opportunities to improve the user experience of Corky Notes and we admit that we're not the best at it so we're asking for your help! So far, you guys have provided us with numerous amazing suggestions and we greatly appreciate it!
Thank you for being our customer.
Funny, I showed someone Corky Notes and they tried double tapping to create a note(on version 1). Just goes to show double tap to create really is intuitive.
I wouldn't say intuitive but is almost expected. Therefore, the top bar to add note was really just counter intuitive.
I was thinking that the picture of icons you showed earlier could be a view of a user selected set of 8 icons. This set of 8 could be taken from a much larger selection of icons that is accessed via another menu or screen.
Cheers,
Ian
It's good to see suggestions that I have, have already been thought of & addressed in 2.0 :)
Am I correct in my understanding that 2.0 has already been submitted to BlackBerry & we are just waiting for it to be approved & go live?
Posted via CB10
We ran into some problem with BlackBerry World in the last two days but we resolved it and have submitted for approval this morning. Hopefully it'll be approved over the weekend!
So it's July 1st, and update still not available to you guys. I'm sorry, I really thought it'd be approved before June ended!
I apologize for giving you guys a false date, we will make sure to be more careful when releasing time frame in the future.
July 1st is a holiday in Canada (Canada Day)
Probably won't be any people working on approving apps in Waterloo till at least Tuesday
Posted via CB10
From what I know, the approval team is located all over the world so if one of the team outside Canada picks it up, it should be approved today

If Corky Notes 2.0 isn't out tomorrow I'm starting a protest.
Patience is a virtue.
But yea I've been waiting for 2.0 ever since I heard that it had lists/tabs
Posted via CB10
Me too... I'm gonna limit my notes to 4 a day...

Here is the full change log for version 2.0.2
Change Log (v 2.0.2)
Tabs
- Tabs are a great way to keep your notes organized based on their categories. With a maximum of 5 tabs, keep notes of the same category on the same screen.
- Customize your tabs by choosing from 4 different colors and 8 different icons.
- Swipe from left (or right) to show/display your tabs.
- Show/hide individual tabs depending on your needs.
- Tap on a tab to move into it.
- Drag a note to a tab to move the note to that tab.
UX Update
- The top Add note bar is now gone. To create a new note, simply double tap a note-less spot on the screen.
- Dragging a note to a tab/Trash bin/Share button now shrinks the note and displays a message to notify the user that their note is in the interaction area.
- Deleting a note will not display a delete confirmation dialog. Instead, the note is will delete immediately and a notification with undo button will display.
- Notes on keyboarded devices (Q10/Q5) are smaller in size to allow more notes to fit on the screen.
- The preview of notes in the setting screen will now reflect the modification more directly.
UI Update
- The note/pin/close note buttons have been redesigned.
- The Cork Board and Brushed Metal backgrounds are no longer tiled.
- The Recycling icon has been replaced with a Trash icon.
- The Trash and Share buttons are completely invisible unless a note is being dragged.
- The Trash and Share buttons are now white or black depending on background selected.
Settings Instead of Themes, users are now offered more customization options
- Note Style Choose from Post-it notes or clean square notes.
- Dark Notes Dark notes may look nicer on certain backgrounds.
- Show Pin Show/hide pin, you decide.
- Background 4 different backgrounds offered: cork board, brushed metal, light pattern, dark pattern.
- Allow Random Rotation Enable/disable notes rotating when re-pinned to the screen.
Active Frame
- Refresh Frequency Select refresh rate between 5/30 seconds to 1/2/5 minutes.
- Active frame optimized for Q10/Q5 to display most content.
- Empty active frame bug fixed.
- Battery draining bug eliminated.
- Under the hood stuff.
- Assigning string date to due date bug fixed.
- Note operations are now streamlined to minimize memory consumption.
Playing with it now. Tabs is a bit different then I thought it would be. I'm still hoping for something like the below image. At least when it comes to groceries. When your in the store pushing a cart with one hand & holding your phone with the other, reading your grocery list, you want to have them all. There. Easy to see, you don't want to be flipping through sticky notes. Also, sometimes these lists get quite long, you don't want to be making new notes for 20 items. Can 2.1 please include inter-note lists?
