I'm happy to announce Card Browser, my latest native BlackBerry 10 application!

Card Browser - the Web in your Hub-img_20140516_060124.png
You're probably wondering, what is Card Browser, and why would I bother to install it? Good question.

First, let me be clear: Card Browser is a supplementary app for your BlackBerry 10 Browsing Experience. It is NOT intended to replace the stock browser, or other aftermarket web browsing applications. Card Browser is intended to give you quick and easy access to webpages sent to you in emails, text messages, etc, without you needing to leave the BlackBerry Hub.

Card Browser does require some minimal setup to make it work. All you have to do is:
    1. Open an email, text message, BBM message, etc., with a web link in it.
    2. Hold your finger on the link, and select the "Open In" option in the context menu.
    3. Check the box in the upper-left to set Card Browser as the default app, and then choose Card Browser.

Card Browser is Freemium. The core app is available for free for everyone to use forever. You can unlock the following additional features with a single one-time purchase:
Toggle between Desktop and Mobile browsing
Add the Current page to your BlackBerry 10 Homescreen
Reader Mode (removes extra text from webpages)
Search (allows you to search for words/phrases on a page)
Open in Browser (open a link in the stock BlackBerry 10 Browser)
    Premium Support.

    Some additional screenshots:

If you have any questions, feature requests, or other suggestions, feel free to post here or to contact me via email, twitter, etc.

And of course. The download link

They should at least integrate it into the default browser, but they haven't yet and it's not on the road map.

one comment i have tho is that the previous link will briefly show until it loads the new one when you click on a 2nd link.. maybe have it clear? or was this done by design

Sounds like a great idea, thanks for developing such an app! Does "open in default app" work now, i.e. the settings actually stick for whatever app you choose to open from?

Great idea and execution. Simple, clutter free and light.

It does however show the previous page before taking you to the new link you opened and could be confusing if it takes a few seconds to load which it sometimes does.

    But bravo!

I assumed the app wouldn't do that by default, but for some reason it does. I kind of like it, but I may add a setting to change that if there's demand for it.

Lol, so two comments on that, I'll mess with it this weekend and see what the options are for that

"Open in default app" works as long as you don't have to restart the phone. After a restart you have to register the app as default app again. Looks like this is a OS bug since you still find the app in the settings menu for default apps after a restart.

Reader Mode (removes extra text from webpages)
Why do you use a public service for the reader mode and not the bb10 built in reader mode?

    Got an issue here.

Clicked on a link to a PDF in an email, Card opens and shows the previous page loaded, and does noting to process the PDF link.

Oh wow, I didn't notice that a reboot did that. I'll get in touch with BlackBerry and see if they have a fix planned for that.

Because the bb10 built in reader isn't available for developers from what I could find.

    Update:
Pdfs, and other extensions will now launch in the browser instead of in the app so you can download them.
The reason for having them launch in the browser is because you'll probably not want to leave Card Browser running long enough to complete a long download

Saved on reboot for me Z10STL100-3/10.3.0.296
Excellent, so BlackBerry fixed that in later OSes

The rss reader app RSS Savvy offers a reader mode that looks like the original bb10 browser reader mode. So it might be possible to use the built in reader mode.

Probably wrote a function that strips the css and certain elements from the page. I'm pretty certain the bb10 browser reader mode isn't something that can be used by developers.
