I am disappointed there are not more built for BlackBerry apps. Is this due to a lack of developer interest or is it due to potentially overly demanding qualifying criteria ?

I'm thinking that there is a heavy criteria that needs to be met
The CB application did not get this status until last week as I recall. I have been using the application for almost 2 months.

There are many other native apps in bbw, but they don't meet BlackBerry standards of awesomness.

The certification should be renamed to something different, like BlackBerry Beacon Apps. BlackBerry's goal for these is to ensure that apps are not just written in native code, but that they are written to meet interface guidelines and they are written to perform well in all scenarios, and that they conserve battery power, etc. The object of putting these apps on a petistule is to encourage other developers to strive for the same quality in their apps.

I posted a response in another thread, but I'll post it again here so more people can see it:

The Built for BlackBerry program is a joke. The criteria mean nothing. There is no recourse for most denied apps, there is no feedback from the BFB "team", they don't even reply to emails. BFB is a PR stunt by BlackBerry in an attempt to try and show the world that they have some good apps. In reality they've just ticked off a bunch of devs and mislead consumers. Consumers will look at the BFB list on BB World and judge non BFB apps as not being of great quality, as some posters in this thread have already fallen into that trap.

Seriously BFB is terrible.
