What's the difference with the browser private mode? I thought it just didn't record any histories or save anything. However I found on many sites it just doesn't load or takes forever to render anything. But trying the same site with the usual (non-private) mode, the same sites load instantly.

Check if the settings are configured in the same way in both browsers. There is a different settings menu for each browser. If you are ok with the performance of the regular browser, use the same settings configuration for the private browser.
