unfortunately the apps I want, simple banking apps, are still not there. neither is Instagram without sideloading, which I won't do.

I could not care less about games or sports. I want my purportedly business oriented device to have banking apps.

    +1 on this, Q.

I just want my banking apps, and PayPal. Instagram would be nice, but not a must have for me.

Skydrive (native) and a working Lync client. Is that too much to ask for?

I thought the article said it explained why? I don't see anything that explains much there. And another vote of support for your comment here qbnkelt.

Kind of hard to expect developer support with the Strategic Alternatives announcement.

Yup. People on Crackberry love to say how committed they are to the platform but all it takes to bail out is to change smartphones. The real commitment to a platform comes from a developer that has a learning curve just to begin work on an app, the resources required to develop and maintain an app, and then the customer base which can vanish if a platform falls out of favor.

So, as a developer, when I hear a user say how committed they are it's really meaningless when compared to the commitment I have to make. Similarly, when a user says how much faith they have in a platform growing that means they have invested a few hundred bucks which is negligible compared to what a developer must invest in order to indulge in this kind of faith.

"We're willing to do what it takes...," he says, yet I still feel BlackBerry could be doing more. It's do or die time! Time for that hail-Mary pass!

I second what skypilotofhope said. Time to all the cards on the table and play to win.

That article is almost a month old. Was that posted before or after the big "we're up for sale" sign went up?
