Save and scan has just been announced in the app announcement forum.
I have downloaded it and it seems to work very well.
Hey,
i have to use Scanlife Barcode reader.
Works great on my blackberry !!and its FREE
The native one is fine, what do you reproach him ?
Native one does not work with barcode. Yes it can scan it and all it does is just add the number to the scan. There is no way to search with that information or send it to any application.
The question is, why is there "Open In" function but it only lists "New York Times" and "BeWeather" apps in mine. Why can't we open it or search it in Google? Obviously the functionality is there, but it is broken.
I just tried another one, 3rd Party app "QR Manager" can scan barcodes as well and it has a very nice function to search the barcode number in Google. But it does not support shopping or price comparison, we need a plug in or specific price comparison app. Other option would be copying the code to Clipboard, then manually going to website and typing it for a scan. It could actually be a lot easier if we could build more custom searches to universal search to include more than just google, yahoo, bing, etc..
I couldn't find this in app store.
lol
You could always buy pants with large pockets to hold one of these barcode scanners :rotfl:
Cheers,
Barry
Try out ZXING Barcode Scanner. It's android but awesome. I use it for an intent on my point of sale app to scan barcodes.

I am trying to install the ZXING Barcode Scanner, because it looks great. I found the .bar at the goodereader site, but I can't get it to install. I am using the Chrome plug in to install bars on my Z10. What version did you use to get yours to work?
ScanLife is only on BBOS, not BB10. I tried the Android side load too, but no luck.

I loaded RedLazer which works well

Since we can sideload amazon now, I just use amazon to check prices, they have two apps. Amazon Price Check and Amazon Store apps.
The Amazon app has the built in scanner function so why is there a separate Amazon scanner app?
I thought about the same thing but I believe one is mainly focused on items that are available on Amazon while the other one searches through market place as well as other stores.
Remember when Amazon announced they would accept advertisments and price submissions from other stores.
When I was shopping at Amazon for a hard drive, I used to see links at the bottom
"Prices in other stores"
with links to Staples, J&R, etc..
Maybe you can look at this post which talks about barcode scanner control for mobile phone.
