Apps asking access to shared files, device identifying information, Internet, camera etc...
Well,
Been a loyal BB user since Pearl 8130, upgrading to Storm 1, Storm 2, Torch 9800, Bold 9900 and now Z10 all on Telus.
All I can say is wow! It was definitely worth the wait! So...now that I've had this device for roughly 2 weeks, going through the many nice apps via BlackBerry App World I've really started to take more notice and pay much more attention to why apps need to access certain parts of the phone.
One app for example is 2 for 1 flashlight
It's perfect for what it does but why does it need to access my shared files? Some apps (PhotoFun Free) are completely greyed out when you go to permission details. I can't opt to slide it to off like other apps. I can understand some need to connect to bbm which I hate when it updates my profile...I don't need to shout out to all my contacts that I'm using or on a particular app that's why I like to turn profile updates off.
Anyhoo...should we really be concerned when apps want access to certain data and yet doesn't give us the option to turn it off in application permissions?
What's your guys/gals view?
