I installed word search from the Blackberry World App store, I went into settings/Permissions of Z10 and I wanted to turn off the identifying phone but all the settings are blanked out. I've noticed this on a few apps, can anybody tell me why?

It's because the app is a ported android app. Android apps don't allow you to select the permissions - it's all or nothing.

Just Read Baarn's Link, so it seems if you want permissions to re-appear for all apps then it's best to remove all Ported Android apps then?

Haven't had the problem myself, but my understanding is that you just need to remove them one by one til the permissions reappear. Start by cleaning out the cruft that you rarely use.

This issue has been fixed for a while now. What OS version are you using?

    Then it is something else.

You do realize that "word search" is an android port? Even though it's available through bbw, the same permission rules apply as all android apps - you can't change permissions after installing.

No I did'nt realise it was an android ported game. Being a bit naive I guess.
So unless any app in blackberry states it's built for Blackberry then it could be a ported android app.

Correct. Built for BlackBerry means native for sure, and the rest can be either.

You can usually tell within the app itself by its interface (back bar on bottom that you can choose to hide or not shows it's an android app). Also, android apps always ask about permissions as you are installing the app, and not when you run the app for the first time (which indicates native app).
