Viber had way longer development time.

    Indeed, it will be native.
I hope you stick to that date...
I remember having viber on BBOS saying voice chats coming soon for almost a year or two

I wonder what apis are they waiting for. As wechat can have push message without the app running. And it also has hub integration.

And it's on beta version. Unlike viber, who is still on advance development stage for the past *who knows how many months* now.

The delay is their loss. So they might be trying to make best of their resources.

But the requirement for 10.2 seems weird, especially when it can be HUB integrated in the current version itself.

Maybe Blackberry will provide a more concrete API to let apps integrate on the Hub. Just my 2 cents though.

We're still waiting for ooVoo too. My prediction is that SDK10.2 has an API that Viber and ooVoo are waiting for, and that Skype is waiting for, for their native client, which is the reason the Android port is still called a Preview. Something to do with VOIP,Video Calling, Hub Integration, or the Headless API.

Skype takes a long time to move from preview to the final version. Look at the app for Skype. It remained in the preview state for a long time and I'm sure Windows was a higher priority for them than BlackBerry.

What is the reason for all the criticism. They have said it'll be released for 10.2 and native. Everyone should be happy

When the Windows Phone 8 version came out of preview, it got a UI overhaul.

Whenever BBM goes cross platform and then eventually allows for voice and video chat across all devices, Viber will become a moot point. It really is to their benefit to get this app out to the BlackBerry masses...

We are examining ways of handling these blocks, but we don't have any official announcement yet. We are learning their nature, and seeing what can be done (if at all) to help our users in blocked countries.

If we have news, we'll fill you in.

The delay was not due to them waiting for any APIs but just normal development time.

Why can't Viber release a version with text message support first before releasing the full voice support version foe BB10?

It's quite annoyed to have to wait this long.
