Does anybody know of any apps that are good replacements for using Google Voice? I use Spare Phone now but that is not great and it does not text. The browser does not do it either. Any ideas? Any apps like Talkatone (iOS & Android) or SynerGV (PlayBook) out there for BB10?

There are several VoIP apps in BlackBerry World, some generic SIP apps and some tied to specific services.

I don't know what features you need beyond voice, but you might want to search for strings like "VoIP" or "voice" or something..

I personally use Tru phone App, it's built for BlackBerry and has clear HD sound. Free to call and text among users and very low cost calls worldwide.

Is that an Android port or a sideload?

I tried sideloading two different versions of Talkatone (one from BB10Bars and another from ereader) on my Q10 and PlayBook and neither worked at all. Which version of Talkatone are you using that works and what website did you go to to download it?

The latest 10.2.1.xxxx leaked OS builds make it far easier to install Android apps directly from APK, and if you're using one of those OS builds there is a really cool app that provides access to the Google Play store (currently only for free apps) that makes installing Android apps almost as easy as installing native apps.

Yes it's free to call with your data plan too if calling to another Truphone user. If not it will always say how much it will cost next to the name of your contacts

Update... upon restarting it displayed an error about phone not being added, just had to touch the listed number and now it works... very uninformative error messages, Google!

The odd thing about the web app is that my contacts are not listed in alphabetical order. However, if you click on the "older version", my contacts are listed in alphabetical order, so I use the older Web version instead.

I am trying a service called sendhub (android app available). It's aimed at businesses but have a free plan that seems to be sufficient for personal use. They also forward to Canada whereas GV does not. Anyone else heard of it? So far I actually think it's better tham GV and has far less restrictions. That said, I do not use it much yet.

Oh and I was able to get a phone number in the area code (480) whereas GV would not let me.

Finally went ahead and downloaded 10.2.1.1925. Snap gave us so many more apps... Google Voice still doesn't work but there are tons of other options that do: SendHub, GV Phone, and Talkatone.
