Does anyone know if it is possible, either with or without BES, to only allow network access via VPN / when the VPN server is up? (Presumably with a manual bypass.)

It looks like by default when the IKEv2 / IPsec server goes down, the device just silently fails over to normal networking, which is extremely suboptimal; e.g. it makes the devices vulnerable to network sniffing when used at cafes, honeypot access points, etc. Probably a honeypot could even disrupt IPsec on purpose causing a failover.

If you use bes, the device falls back to aes tunnel via BlackBerry infrastructure. Within this aes tunnel, the SSL is still active to your mail server. So I do not see anything unsecure by falling back with bes in background, even with unsecure wifi
