FYI - just received the following mail (in german) from BlackBerry saying that even
not activiated trade-up CALs won't expire, but will be changed into perpetual ones!

    Regards, S.

I'm a bit annoyed about this. If I'd known this last year then I would have traded up ALL our BES5 CALs and not just enough for the BB10 phones that we have.

This benefits those who traded up more BES5 CALs than they needed but for those who just did the amount they needed at the time it's a case of "Damn it! Why didn't they say that earlier!'.

Wow that's something new! Last time I spoke to my BlackBerry rep, he told me that a snapshot of my BES10 was taken at the 31st of december and that all activated licenses will be converted into perpetual ones, while the others will expire after the 30th of march. I had this conversation only two weeks ago!
But hey, I'm not complaining if BlackBerry decides to convert them all into perpetual licenses. This means I'll get 30 more free licenses, yay ^^

But I'm sure a lot of people, like johnnyuk, will feel screwed over because they didn't go all-in with the license offer, so I hope BlackBerry will allow those people to trade in additional licenses.

I wonder if BlackBerry found it was too much effort to work out how many BB10 devices were activated against traded up CALs on every BES10.1+ server out there so they have decided to just make all the migrated BES5 CALs perpetual instead.

God knows... Maybe they fired the guy working on that.
Anyway, I'll see when I get my perpetual CALs (and how many...)

Funny off-topic sidenote: I was checking the Airwatch site earlier, and when I scrolled back up here on CB, I noticed that Google placed AirWatch advertising in the ad bar! This is totally unacceptable! :P

It's worse if you've been browsing adult websites, pornifies Google adverts for days afterwards! Lol

    Lol!
Sometimes it shows totally irrelevant ads too. Last week I saw an ad for a solution against toe fungus. I didn't even Google for something remotely connected to toe fungus! And the image was really gross as well!

Quick on-topic update: I've got the same mail today, so I think it's safe to assume that everyone who participated in the License trade-up programme will receive all the traded BES5 licenses in the form of BES10 perpetual CALs. Much appreciated BlackBerry!

I don't think we're in a worse spot, it seems to me the new EZ Pass program will work for us and do the same thing.

Yes I just read about EZ Pass the other day, a one-time chance to trade up old BES5 CALs, and CALs from 3 rival MDM solutions, to perpetual BES10 EMM CALs.

That sounds like something I will take advantage of to get the rest of my CALs upgraded.

I'm going to do the EZPass as well, no reason not to. But the cynical part of me is expecting them to change it to less friendly terms. I don't think I've seen so many changes to licensing rules for a product in a fairly short amount of time like we have had for BES10.

I got an email from your implementation partner yesterday with the new key and I activated the license today. Nice move and it gives BES a few more months in our company. Now it is on the side of Blackberry to come up with something good within the next 6 months or else this marketing stunt wasn't for much.

Windows phone support is coming in the next 6 months. What's the ETA for BES12?

Not that I'm thrilled that everything is changing AGAIN soon unless it has real killer features and isn't just playing catch up like how BES10 usually feels.
