"Yea, though BlackBerry walk through the valley of the shadow of death, BlackBerry shall fear no Apple or Samsung or Microsoft".
ENOUGH SAID!!!
Although its all speculation at the moment about Watsa & co taking BlackBerry private, what is definite is that sooner rather than later the "cloud of uncertainty" will be resolved.
BlackBerry has almost all the "mobile computing" ingredients to be a very profitable company within a few years. Don't dismiss the fat lady until she sings.

I totally agree that it should have been possible to get everything together, including 3rd party developers support in a limited degree. To at least have gotten something the launch of BB10 started.
But as any baker will tell you, having those ingredients put together in their proper order and in the exact amount is crucial to baking a perfect cake. There are a lot of problems that can arise if anything is done incorrectly. And you end up with a lot of wasted time and money... and cake on your face.
As for FEAR... "Fear stifles our thinking and actions. It creates indecisiveness that results in stagnation. I have known talented people who procrastinate indefinitely rather than risk failure. Lost opportunities cause erosion of confidence, and the downward spiral begins - Charles Stanley" Maybe Jim and Mike weren't really laughing a Apple way back when after all....
I completely agree with you. No company can be complacent and expect to remain relevant most especially in the rapidly changing mobile computing industry. Apple, Samsung, Microsoft etc all have to be on their toes at all times.

what is "mobile computing"? and what ingredients do they have that can set them apart from other platform?
what is "mobile computing"? and what ingredients do they have that can set them apart from other platform?
WIKIPEDIA definition----- "Mobile computing is human–computer interaction by which a computer is expected to be transported during normal usage. Mobile computing involves mobile communication, mobile hardware, and mobile software. Communication issues include ad hoc and infrastructure networks as well as communication properties, protocols, data formats and concrete technologies. Hardware includes mobile devices or device components. Mobile software deals with the characteristics and requirements of mobile applications."
BlackBerry has mobile communication, mobile hardware and a "solid and evolving" mobile software; doesn't it? The only things BlackBerry lacks are a) total control of manufacturing of its handset and b) great control or influence over the carriers, as Apple does.
