Yahoo's finance-page editors still trying to bash BBRY, on some of their biggest news EVER - 1Million Z10 order for single partner, WhatsApp now available...

On the page announcing the 1M Z10 order, this was the article text, taken from "Theflyonthewall.com":

BlackBerry announced that one of its established partners has placed an order for one million BlackBerry 10 smartphones, with shipments starting immediately. This order marks the largest ever single purchase order in BlackBerry's history, the company said.
    Very sedate.

Now under the article, in the section "Related News", look what they picked - when there are tons of more recent, more positive, more relevant news to choose from.. yanno, like the USA rollout?!?:

Are you going to say you know specifically how those lists are populated on Yahoo Finance, or give a generic answer, like "it's just a robot collecting what other articles people that read that one are clicking on".

Because this negative-Nelly stance on BBRY has been very consistent over there.

Why would everyone be reading nothing but negative, 2-month-old articles after reading this one?

well that is exactly what it is pretty much. Its just pulling blackberry related threads. Yes a few are negative stories but I highly doubt they are being selected by a human to show a negative slant against BB in this case.

OK, so please find JUST ONE article in that list that is positive about BBRY. There is NOTHING about all the HUGE NEWS in the past couple of days, for example. That just doesn't make sense.

Yes, I think it's pretty obvious that a lot of that happens in the financial markets. I wouldn't necessarily call it a "grudge" though - just people trying to manipulate the market to suit their own business/financial interests.

Yahoo is not even writing these articles. Its pulling them from all other site like Business Insider, Associated Press, Quartz and such. You can blame yahoo all you want but the stories are rarely from writers employed by yahoo. They operate the same as seeking alpha and the wall street journal even. They just collect and repost other stories

Yahoo has been openly anti blackberry. Saying that they're no longer revelant to not having an app for bb10, its not hard to believe in this market that they would pick and choose which article to show up in the related news section.

Even if you don't explicitly cherry-pick particular bits of data, there is a lot you can do to manipulate the results.

Case in point: during the 2012 US national election, there was lots of spin-doctoring done by not only by the campaigns themselves and journalists, but also by pollsters. There were 2 big revelations in regards to polling:

    • Nate Silver, who used a variety of scientific statistical tools to model the election, was dead-on in his predictions, despite the fact that the GOP in particular regularly scoffed at his predictions prior to the election results being announced.
    • Rasmussen was a consistent outlier compared to other pollsters, which at the time "inexplicably" seemed to always bias towards the GOP, and of course the GOP loved to quote their numbers/predictions.

Even though Rasmussen was doing polls like everyone else, it was the way they did the polls that most likely affected their numbers.

For example, whereas most pollsters, if calling a household ie during the day didn't get an answer they would call back, sometimes as many as 5 times, to try to reach the residents. Rasmussen on the other hand, if they got no answer the first time, would NOT call back. When you consider that a large percentage of senior-citizens (who typically vote more conservatively) are generally home during the day, while the younger (and more likely to be progressive-leaning) voters were likely at work or at school (or only have a cellphone number and not a land-line), this strategy is one way that a pollster can "game" the results without appearing, on the surface, to do so.

The same thing could hold true for an organization like Yahoo. We don't know what criteria they use for organizations they cite, or how they pick specific articles to reference. Such things are not difficult to manipulate, if one has a mind to do so. There is NO public transparency about how this material is chosen.

Because yahoo cancels an bb app, ( not unlike other organizations) some keep them forever categorized in the global anti- blackberry conspiracy camp. If yahoo's computers pull stories off the news wires, how are they bashing?

Can we use a little reasoning and common sense here?

Yahoo's CEO came out recently and said she did not consider blackberry to be a smartphone and is moving her company to adopt iPhone and android. Its pretty obvious why most of the articles on yahoo are anti blackberry.

Speaking of cancellations, Google just killed the Google Voice app for Blackberry.

    They also killed Google Reader.

And it looks like they are locking-down CalDAV access to their products.

Sounds like circling the wagons and trying to squeeze all mobile platforms but Android.

With the recent success of BBRY, I can't wait for all the patent trolls to start coming out of the woodwork, not to mention their competitors getting their nuisance-lawsuit teams suited-up...

Blackberry, please remove Yahoo as an option for search from within the BB10 browser.

Google + Bing is just fine, in fact replace Yahoo with Lycos or something

They have cut ties (mail features, employee handsets, overall sentiment) with Blackberry from their dying company, why should they still be considered as relevant enough to include in the refreshing browser.
