Bologna. It has nothing to do with 'protectionism'. If BB presents the ideal smartphone to the US and their marketing is a success BB will do just fine. The average US citizen doesn't care much from where a product comes or by whom it's made. As long as it is a great product, it will sell. And I have read many positive BB articles written in the US. So enough already with your 'protectionism' argument. It's getting tiring.

I wouldn't buy a phone made in Mexico, so your theory doesn't hold water!

    2. I hope you're not planning to buy a Z10, because it's quite likely to be assembled in Mexico.

Well the pic is interesting, I don't know what it proves though.

If Merkel were as unhappy about Blackberry as some people must think that pic depicts, why would she have signed-off on the deal?

I think Marissa Mayer's implication that Blackberry isn't a smartphone is a good place to start.

Or just read all the bearish stock analysts desperately trying to cover their short positions on BBRY, day-in, day-out, day-in, day-out..

At least now every time one of those twits writes or gets quoted in an article like that somewhere that allows posting of comments, people are all over their sh*t about it.

Also - the frowning pic specifically credits the photographer and their agency, Reuters:

Note that this is apparently a different source from the Bild photo.

Someone should contact Reuters and ask them to explain this. They are a reputable organization. If one of their downstream customers is blatantly modifying their photographer's photos, the sh*t will hit the fan.

If this is not just catching Merkel in a bad pose, it will cause a stir.

That's what happened when New Republic was caught publishing a cover photo of Saddam Hussein, where they had retouched his mustache to look more like Hitler's. (Sadly, I can't find any visual evidence of this on the web right now. I remember the photographer making a stink about it when he found out what they'd done to his picture though.)

Clear bias, true but I thought it was established here that BlackBerry doesn't need the US market so why a big deal?

Mr Bensch, as it turns out, has done quite a few images of Merkel.

While most of them are more flattering, here's a couple that aren't:
