Just poor editing and the "0"'s are wrong IMHO.

Besides, if it's not Apple or Droid, you know the press hates it.

Who is paying these folks to write these reviews is the better question~ and why........

The passport price even didn't go down for now over here.
Which is a good sign, people even trade it for iphones etc, which never was the case with other bb10 devices. Atleast that is what i see on some websites here in Belgium. Used passports still have a high value

It is sad because regardless of the fact that the 8,000 number is BS.. The public just got force-fed another dose of BlackBerry is dead....When the ***** reporter puts out his correction that it was 800,000 or whatever it is, it will be in small print and 99.99999 % of the people that read the article will not see it..

Initial Classic sell-through looks well below breakeven rates. Our checks over the first couple of weeks of the Classic and Passport launches at major US carriers suggest BlackBerry may have sold through as many as 8,000 devices. Although in the early innings, our initial sell-through estimates are well below the run rate needed to hit the 2-3mm Classics during of FY16 we estimate will be needed for the company to reach total device sell-through of ~10mm we believe will be needed to reach breakeven with hardware during FY16. We are seeing very little demand for Passport where it is stocked.
So its only talking about recent retail store sales in the US which we know is sparse and is backed up by forum posts about hardware availability with AT&T.

Found this article this morning... would have thought more than 8,000 handsets sold..,, hmmmm.,,,, What say you...

    http://finance.yahoo.com/news/blackb...143732238.html

Morgan Stanley in a note on Monday said that BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ: BBRY) sales of its software and phones are "not tracking anywhere close" to where they need to be.

Shares recently traded at $9.73, down 0.87 percent.

Based on research and conversations, Morgan Stanley said that VARs and resellers are finding BlackBerry is a tough sell, even for enterprise customers. On the phone, Morgan Stanley said that as many as 8,000 Classic and Passport phones have been sold, "well below" the 2-3 million needed in FY16.

Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley said that even if BlackBerry is able to stem the declines in its enterprise unit, the $500 million in software revenue is unlikely. In short, BlackBerry will not "get anywhere close" to this goal.
Thats not true. Get your facts right! Passport sold more than 220K in just 6 hours. Sold out on Amazon and Shop BB

yeah, it's ridiculous how much they get paid to make these 'predictions'. But I doubt they worry about being right or wrong, as I'm sure they have their bases covered somehow, in terms of the stock they're 'manipulating'. Might not be legal, but I don't doubt it goes on all the time.

    So:
8,000 in two weeks from one carrier (with limited availability) x 13 weeks in a quarter =
52,000 per carrier in each quarter x 3 major carriers (eventually) =
156,000 for the three major carriers + Amazon, ShopBB and the rest of the world

= not nearly as bad of a picture as MS paints...

They'd still downgrade in your scenario, online sales in the US are primarily from first adopters and aren't sustainable, just the figures won't be as bad. We saw evidence from this in the Amazon rankings, the Passport shot to the top and then disappeared after initial demand was satisfied. What 3rd carrier is going to carry BB? Tmobile said they were open to discussions but no news either way, I'd imagine this news would hurt not help.

800.000 would be realistic (and still a disaster). 8.000? no way this is true.
This is exactly what I think - that the quoted number should have been 800k, not 8k.

Unless they are strictly talking about carrier retail sales, in which case, it's possible that this is a true number just for that class of sales.

It is pretty obvious that the number derived by a check on ATT channel sales and is limited on the US market.
If it is true, Blackberry has totally failed to draw in subscribers for carriers and it will be increasingly more difficult to entice other carriers to carry BBRY phones without heavy incentives from BBRY itself.

I was expecting slow sales, but this is way worse.

Could be 8000 sold to retail channels this past quarter. If speculation is in order, the analysts estimate is lacking.
