my favorite part is where they said this could send the stock catapulting to the high $20

Ryan Jacobson thus predicts Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) should surprise on the upside when it announces its results next month. He predicts if the company posts results closer to the above estimates, the share price would catapult to the high $20s, with possible short covering aiding the share price to rise further.
i guess the shorts are trying to cover now before they lose big

Wall street consensus is $0.03??? Really?

Q4 had a $0.22 eps and z10 was only out for a few weeks in a few countries.

In q1 we had the brightstar order of 1 million units, a full quarter of z10 sales, confirmed government orders, etc..

Add to this the beginning of q10 sales in a dozen countries and channel fill all over the world.

earnings are neat. But FCF is what matters.

having said this, we could see earnings of 80 cents a share and have the stock tank because FCF is negative. People don't look at FCF ever (atleast in articles) but this is why stocks beat on earnings and proceed to tank. People that really understand what is going on know that EPS is a crap number.

True...so let's hope they spent 20% more on marketing and R&D and grew the cash reserve.

of course thats the important thing but you missed the projected net income part

Ryan thus projects an estimated net income of $339.1 million, after offsetting the sales and cost estimates as above. This would translate to $0.65 EPS for the first quarter of 2014, a significantly higher number than the Wall Street consensus of $0.03 EPS.
