I remember a thread around here titled 'I support blackberry I buy shares', there were a lot of people in that thread promoting the sale of blackberry shares.

Just wondering how many of you were successful and how many lost out?

The ones that all bought as an emotional way to support BBRY.... all lost. The "product" that we all love is pretty done for... the stock BBRY may have a little life yet. But it isn't (and hasn't) going to follow any chart.... too many are following the technicals aspects of BBRY and not the realities.

I made out very well...the stock isn't the emotional aspect...its all the dooms dayers who think they know what they are talking about and side track discussions who tick me off. The thread gets it share of folks that lost and want to blame some people for their own decisions...childish and selfish behaviour.

Still have significant number of shares...will hold these until phase two of strategic alternatives is better understood...then will either close out or add more to position.

Regarding the technicals, the opposite is true. The EOD chart hadn't given a reliable buy signal any time since the run up in late 2012.

Regarding their reasons for buying, I don't know that the majority of losers bought to support their favourite company. They bought and lost for the same reason that bad traders usually do. They were either averaging down because they couldn't bring themselves to take a small loss, or they fell prey to the old 'it can't go down from here' fallacy.

    Just paper losses, huh?

I lost ~$5K. It was money I could lose. I knew better, and thought BBRY would take off. I got to emotionally involved and listened to the wrong people. MY fault, not theirs. But the fact that they are still trying to convince people to buy more of this dog makes me wonder about their motives.

Feels like more than I actually did loose. Maybe 50%.... of what I put into bbry. Which was not enough for me to worry too much about loosing. My portfolio probably lost 10% of its value.

That truly sucks, I agree with you some are still trying to convince people to buy the stock.

The key is not to follow the urge to "make it back quick" and sink what is left on some other stock because of a "tip" you get from the same people who tipped you to buy BBRY in the first place.

Nice to see someone post a loss without including frowny faces or questions about whether I think you should hold or sell.

I think we can calculate what the guy in my sig lost if he sold today. I think he may have been "smart" and gotten out the first time it hit the teens, though. Of course the real smarts would have not been buying at all.

I sold all my shares today. I bought a few months ago and lost about $130k. Couldn't take the incompetence anymore. The nail in the coffin for me was the failed xBBM launch.

It feels very cathartic to have sold. It was the single worst investment I made in 17 years.

The stock may go up or down, who knows, but I'm just relieved that I don't have to give a damn about it anymore.

I lost about 15k when I sold about a month back. Been trying to day trade it ever since and have recouped 3k. 12k left to go till I break even!
