Open an on-line trading account somewhere (there's plenty of choices for this - you might want to make sure the app works on your phone first). Once you have an account, you'll be able to transfer money from your bank account to your investment account, and then you can purchase whatever shares you like. It's pretty straight-forward.

If you have to ask... go to your bank and ask for a financial planner.

It's a bad time to do it man. BlackBerry shares will dip big time in the next couples days. So wait for that.

Thanks for the advice so far. I'm in Canada and would really like to support our homegrown company, even if it's just with a minimal investment.

    You can buy through facebook.
Just post "blackberry" as a status update and ask people to share it. The more people share, the more you own. That's how I own 150,000 blackberry shares.

I also own many shares from other companies including Apple, Ms and Google. But I can't seem to sell them. I wonder why. hmmm

I don't think that's how you get shares. I'm sure you have to buy them...

Friend, no offense intended: if you have to ask, you need financial advice and perhaps it is better you save your money in an investment plan.

Blackberry is a company. Family and personal needs override that. Use your money on a priority.

Remember, if you want to "support" a company, buy the product. And try to convince others to.

Don't invest unless you know what you're doing. If you want to invest: research what shares are and how to do so.

Asking on a biased fan site - look, don't mean to sound harsh but after many years in business: not knowing leads to ruination. You need to be objective with YOUR money - no one will help you meet your bills.

I'm merely trying to be a neighbour. Good luck in whatever endeavour you undertake 😊

go to any one of the major banks and open an investors account.most will give you one,if you buy 10 shares the cost will be the same as if you bought 1,000 ,so check on how much they charge per transaction and go from there. It,s good to invest in the stock market but only a fraction of your savings, and don't put all your eggs in the same basket, and another thing ,BB is not for the faint of heart. Also check their annual fees as you probably will have to pay them, if you don't have a minimum balance of let's say $15,000.It could be higher depending on which bank you deal with, have fun and do your homework.

    Through a broker

Through schawab or stockbuilder or any such Internet brooker Schawab takes foreigners and have low fixed cost so hence I recommend them. Most sensible people believe in an efficient market hypothesis of semi - So whether it's expensive or not is hard to tell. However since this is a bleeding company turnaround or bankruptcy seems likely so the downside is always 100% and you are at risk of losing your entire BlackBerry investment

You'll need to open a brokerage account. Don't put in any more than you can afford to lose. I bought some shares about a month ago, and the way I look at it is that it's like betting on a football game; it just makes it more interesting but it won't bankrupt me if the shares drop.

Personally, I think it's a great long play. Over the next few years, I expect this stock to perform well, but don't bet the rent money on it.
