Facebook Execs Meet with BlackBerry For Potential Bid | TechnoBuffalo

I am honestly surprised it took them this long to meet, or if it was just something that is ongoing.
This sucks!
I wonder what this would mean for BlackBerry if Facebook decided to buy it.
Maybe BlackBerry is breaking up the company into pieces and Facebook is interested in the BBM part.

Or maybe the meeting was about permission for Instagram API access.

I would assume its bigger than this.
I don't think executives would meet over Instagram. It's probably done thing bigger. I could be wrong though.

This could make a lot of sense. BlackBerry has value and cash in the bank. If Facebook wants to make a move into hardware then this is a good chance for them to do that. The financial backing this would bring to BlackBerry would be huge allowing them to market the hell out if it. I'm betting that, with fb seeing a declining interest from users, it could be looking to diversify.

Another faceless rumor. How they play the puppets is always a good time.

Isn't a more trueful headline "Blackberry execs travel to facebook and ask them to buy the company - no sign facebook to make bid".

Neither have any form of truth in the least bit. Unless you personally are one of those executives and are going on record that that is the truth

BlackBerry + Facebook = FacePalm.
because FaceBerry doesn't sound right.
"Will you make a Facebook app?"
"No"
"Will you make an Instagram app?"
"No"
"Will you buy our company?"
"We'll think about it"
Look on the bright side. It will be super easy for Blackberry users to keep up with their parents and grandparents.
With facebook user base, I actually like this idea.

I doubt Facebook is the least bit interested in hardware. The value proposition is that they can further their relationship with developers who are committed to Facebook's desktop site. They would bring those devs into their own mobile platform rather than rely on Android and iOS and benefit directly.
They would need hardware to achieve that, so the hardware business wouldn't go away. End result is it may be great for the consumer.
Maybe it's a licensing deal for BBM

So, the company that likes to proclaim it is "all about security" meets with the company that is all about harvesting every single piece of personal, private information about you, and then selling it .......
Yeah, match made in heaven.
Facebook isn't going to run BlackBerry. If they want BlackBerry it is for Patents, maybe the network and probably some of BBM's technology. The rest would be sold off to whoever else wanted it.
I think many of these "interested parties" are just showing their interest in the auction that is to come, whoever the buyer ends up being. Show some interest now, take a look at the books talk to a few people (that you might want to look at hiring) and kick a few tires. Doesn't mean that they plan on buying today, just that they might be interested.
I feel eerie about this.
The most private company meets the least private company, and then marry??
