Exclusive: Cisco, Google, SAP discussing BlackBerry bids - sources
-
seems like every day there is another company possibly interested....
-
Sounds like that is good news. Thanks for sharing

Not down for Google to own BlackBerry, scrap BB10, then use the patents to further Android.
It gives me a sick feeling.
Cisco and SAP on the other hand........it would solidify their presence in business and enterprise, and we could see a continuation of devices down the road.

BBRY is done either way regardless of which of those companies buy them out...

Same here. Just not sure any of them will care to do that.

GOOG may choose to keep it going...Sammy is kicking their **** with their own OS...
Maybe...kinda sorta.

I think it would be pretty funny if intel or Samsung buy it. They were both investing in tizen OS. Looks like they might not believe in it as much any more. Or they want the network, patents etc to arm themselves lol. They are supposedly also interested now too.
-
Remember this is last opportunity for these companies to get patents and OS for almost free. Nokia is gone. Motorola is gone. Ericson is gone. Last chance

Do you really think any of them would have any reason to continue the BlackBerry name?

Do not forget Microsoft. Sometime you buy it not because you need it but you want to kill the competition.

Oh come on...the stock is going to zero...I read it on the inter webs.

Just conjecture, but BBRY BOD may see the writing on the wall that many shareholders will not take $9. So they piece it out?

I think LG seems like the best bet for BlackBerry 10 to survive. It gives them the advantage of controlling both hardware and software. They're not doing too poorly with Android mind you, but I think the market has proven that companies love to have that advantage. Cisco and SAP might keep it around as well, but with an entirely enterprise-focused approach. I doubt Google or Samsung would keep the OS around on the other hand. I'm not sure what Intel would do with it, but I'm inclined to say they'd scrap it too.
So personally, I think I'd like to see LG take over. But ultimately, we have no idea what these companies would have in mind for BlackBerry until they actually take over.

Google will kill BB10 and use the patents for its Android. Don't know about Cisco and SAP intentions.
-
As long as my blackberry z10 works. I don't care who buys it or rents it or babysits it.
-
Engadget says that Google and them are interested only in the servers and the patents. So that sounds like they would kill off bb10 or just let it die on its own

Didn't need Engadget to figure that one out.

I wouldn't know any more than you. I hope BlackBerry stays intact. But time will tell.

How much would Google pay for those patents? You'd think if Google was in play, Apple may jump in just because they have the cash to block their biggest competitor as well as get their hands on some valuable assets.
