What's the interest of one year old past news?

I would hope for at least 3 million new BB10 phones and about 7.5 million total devices. That way they can point to the fact that they spold more devices then they did a year ago. A little bit of good news to point too.

Who cares what analysts expectations are? Blackberry's guidance is for zero earnings or small losses for this quarter and the 3rd and 4th quarters as all available free cash flow is being re invested in restructuring. I also expect some burn of the cash as conversion of trial BES10 installations won't start converting to MDM and security subscriptions until 3rd quarter. Factory loading BBM on Samsung Androids should really help accelerate growth of BBM users, leading to monetization in near future......lots more positive developments, but 2nd quarter report could be the nader.......

Yes we know BB guidance was for the next few quarters to see some negative earnings due to spending necessary to build the platform. But indications are that sales are going to be lower than expected, and thus that the platform is not headed in a positive direction as expected. At this point if they aren't able to grow the business... then what do they do?

As for trial BES10 installations converting over... these were only good for 60 days in the beginning, did they issue some extensions? We should be seeing subscription growth in the 2nd quarter. I think talk of a sale and the uncertainty of the future of BB is going to put a hold on any current or future BES10 sales.

As for BBM... it's a gimmick right now - maybe one day it will replace FaceBook and Twitter, or maybe it will never see more that a few thousand downloads. Even if it could match WhatsApp in 12 months - that means very little in the way of revenues for a company as big as BB. It needs the same thing BB needs, time to mature and develop into a product that is unique and has value to consumers.

The problem is "time waits for no company".

Correction, that would be "shipped" not "sold". I doubt BB will release sales data, won't be surprised if they don't release shipped data unless required. I bet sales have fallen off a cliff. They are probably scrambling to sell the company before upcoming earnings report. September 27th will probably be nail in the coffin day, sorry to say.

It would mean a lot in terms of revenue. Once they had a user base, it will have a valuation in the billions of dollars and an opportunity to monetize such as through advertising or charging users after the first year, or charging for additional services such as video sharing.

The key is to build the user base first.
