The "up for sale" was a fiasco, but the failure to launch of BB10 is what started it... other than some new faces and "talk", has anything changed?hamza817 and Shadowyugi like this.01-21-14 11:57 AMLike 2 - sleepngbearRetired ModeratorOther than reorganizing the company and bringing in a whole new management team, no, nothing's changed.01-21-14 12:07 PMLike 16

No nothing has changed!
Unless of course you consider having an actual plan, making actual decisions, new partnerships with manufacturers, management changes, continued progression in BB10 and Android integration. All of this within a few short months. Nope! Same old same old!

A couple months back, I said the only thing hurting BlackBerry is the perception....not the OS, not the enterprise tech, not the device designs ....the perception.
Funny how I see more and more stock footage of BB10 devices in action and BB10 devices for pictures in articles as well. Maybe the media finally got tired of piling on. Even the last couple articles from BGR were positive......causing me to nearly **** my pants
Also to consider, if the annoucements of companies adopting BES10 keeps coming at the current rate, boy are we in for a fun ride!01-21-14 12:46 PMLike 7 - I wished they stopped using videos of BlackBerry devices from 6 or 7 years ago.
C'mon CNN, a silver 8830 World Edition running OS4.5?

Right now, it's all talk. Sure Chen has set more realistic goals, but he's got nothing to back anything up. Yet.milo53 and RyanGermann like this.01-21-14 01:41 PMLike 2 - They didn't have a clue on how to launch the new OS and the Z10,I remember how Bo Boo talked about how they came up with the Z for the10,sitting around a table and low and behold,ZORO,wow!! if the street wasn't impressed with those words then what else could you ask for? The deal with Foxconn isn't all talk.
The only reason you think its all talk.. is because you don't understand what's going on.01-21-14 02:08 PMLike 6 -
what has changed is that BlackBerry shrunk their operating expenses bye more then half by cutting back on the hardware and partnering with foxconn01-21-14 02:14 PMLike 4 - stop talking please, BlackBerry's main issue was their hardware was losing money, the fact that their low end devices are beign manufactured by someone else and they are focusing more on services and software means losses from hardware will be much lower then they are now, write downs will be less and margines will increase since QNX systems is pretty much all margine and BES is pretty high.

John Chen and his team are doing a good job of reaching out to important customers and things are already looking better. Most of the problem with Blackberry is about perception at this point and as soon as media stops bashing and starts saying some positive things about Blackberry then people will also start taking a second look at Blackberry. US Govt, Pentagon contract is more symbolic than anything else but it will have a big impact on Blackberry's turnaround.01-21-14 02:36 PMLike 0
- BlackBerry has many issues. They can't hit their own deadlines. They have fractured the app ecosystem with the 720 X 720 screen on the Q10 and Q5. Hardware is overpriced when compared to device with comparable or better internals and specs, leading to poor sales and write offs. The brand name BlackBerry is severely tarnished. Foxconn isn't going to be a magic wand that fixes everything, it's just going to put cheap BB10 phones in markets where the BlackBerry brand isn't completely in the gutter. IMO BlackBerry's main issue is that the name BlackBerry is associated with slow, antiquated BB10 devices and BlackBerry doesn't have the will and/or resources to address this.

cut the bleeding is the reasons why investors are thinking twice about BlackBerry the thinking of BlackBerry being liquidized.
its time for you people to stop thinking its all about their hardware because at this point it really isn't. BES brings in a few billion a year in revenues and without hardware BlackBerry's operating costs are less then a billion a year. cut hardware out and BlackBerry is a profitable company making money, soemthign alot of you people can get through your thick scullsShanerredflag and bungaboy like this.01-21-14 02:41 PMLike 2 - Lows come with a lack of confidence, and a fair portion of the last year was all about lack of confidence.01-21-14 02:54 PMLike 4
- you are miss understanding what i am saying smart guy. their main goal right now is not to increase sales its to stablize the company so it has a chance to grow again, the current stock price is a gross undervalue of the company if it is sable and at break even, even still its undervalues as the book value of the company is more then the market cap. their corperate structrue and profits have nothign to do with their fractured eco system when it comes down to an enterprise and software company its only an issue for developers trying to build apps for the consumer which as of right now BlackBerry isn't making a push on.

I remember watching 'bb10' news segments with a static picture of the Z10, the whole time talking about the q10. Then during the holidays how bb10 was such a bust, and constant video of people using bold and curves. The media either had no idea what bb10 devices were, or didn't give a s4!t... at least that is changing.

The BES income is built primarily on BlackBerry hardware, so the hardware is key.
Of course the reorg matters, as does cutting the cash burn - but at the end of the day not promoting, and trying to sell your flagship device is just plain dumb.
