If I had a dollar for every time I wished I had done a trade differently, I wouldn't have to trade anymore.

Still was over a month ago. With his remaining stake he still made about 20million this month as of right now, if not more.

It's possible that he just sold out bc of his investing philosophy. With RIM's big run up recently his portfolio may have been overweight in it.

Not sure how accurate it is but I saw a tweet that said OTR Global was saying that RIM and Lenovo will announce some type of partnership, not a buyout. This makes more sense to me.

    Notable Calls ‏@thenotablecalls

$RIMM - hearing OTR Global saying Lenovo and RIM likely to announce a business partnership.

No doubt, or perhaps he saw better investments, like Dell.

    It's the push.

Shorts need this price to come down or there are several billion dollars on the table to lose.

lol, I was looking at the 10am drop. was at $16.80 (RIM.TO), had my finger on sell for $16.70, it dropped down to $16.70 then stabilized for a minute, then dropped to $16.45. Too late to sell. I'm in for the long anyways.

I think we're seeing the result of a *lot* of large-scale shorts expecting to be underwhelmed by tomorrow's announcement. Along with profit-taking by those who have made good returns and don't want to risk losing value in a bad announcement.

Here's to hoping that RIM really does have a major surprise or two up its sleeve...

I just wish I had trusted my own instinct that said this would happen, and sold w/ a plan to buy back in.

But - shoulda woulda coulda. Done is done

Several billion? There are 135 M short.

Assuming average loss of $4 per short, it totals $540M
Assuming average loss of $6 per short, it totals $810 M.
Assuming average loss of $8 per short, totals $1.08 B

All depends on how tomorrow's launch plays out.

If it underwhelms, they've got no worries.

If it pops, the squeeze and rush to cover could spike the price pretty high.

(If that stock drops below $15, I may **** my pants. I know it'll recover, but still... I also may buy more at that point. )

And it really looks like the RBC and JP Morgan sell from last week definitely had prior knowledge of a looming drop.

Weak hands will be exiting and they'll pick up the cheap shares and just flip them back.

I might enter again.....at this price.

Also, professional shorts may have hedged with options or otherwise so it is REALLY hard to know the $$ amount at stake and when they all got in (or out).
