The most recent news on Google Finance is still reporting the negative news from yesterday, and no mention of anything positive.

Yahoo finance has better coverage of it though.

    Morgan,

You are so right with this.

I am 33, have a net worth of a wet napkin, but I have a home, a beautiful wife, a beautiful daughter and a son due in 2 months, and yet the only important thing to me is that family. Don't get me wrong, money is great! But having people/family to share that with is what I consider wealth. When I was in my 20's, it was all about status, things and how the world percieved me.

A lot of people I know my age are concerned with things and status symbols, (Alberta Oil Life $$$) yet all are noticably envious of what I have. No amount of money can buy that!

I have limited funds to invest in BBRY, however I am continually increasing my position. I managed to get in quite low and still maintain an O/A porfit. My sole purpose for investing in BBRY was to be able to give my family a little extra that working 12hrs 6 days a week can not, and I believe that BBRY is winner. (So far we have one tuition covered, if we can get this over 25$ I'll have boths kids' tuitions covered, so remember my kids are relying on you guys)
Most of you have kept me in this with your advice and expertise, and for that I am grateful.

Anyway we're all here for different reasons and to acquire a different type of wealth, but we're all in this together.

    Cheers.
    AngryEdmontonian!

You figured it out very early in your life, so good for you! I was really slow to develop a more meaningful life, I worked for a top Canadian Company as their Corp Eng. and setup my own Engineering business on the side and grew that into something big. All of this was at the expense of my family. We owned some nice things but I was obsessed with providing for my family and little else. When I made it, I realized we didn't need all of this security in ours lives. To get there, I failed to get to know my community and friends. So I was taking my first decent holiday from the Corporation and never looked back, I sold everything and quit my job and spent all of my time making up for my absence to my family and friends. My wife keeps me straight, she doesn't want/need all of the assets, just enough to enjoy our lives. Now, I've faced two challenging surgeries that might not take and so I have to plan on not being there for them any more. So figure out what you need to do with your life and get to it today my friend!

There are some very good comments floating on the board today while we wait for BBRY to pop about that darn $ 15.00/shr level. Let's get going here.

Do you have a link? The only thing I can find is the Bluetooth stuff from December. I did see, however, that at the same time, they went after Apple, HTC, and Sierra for the LTE stuff.

EDIT - Never mind... found one.... WiLAN Initiates LTE Litigation Against Blackberry - Yahoo! Finance

At least with the others going through this first, the BB lawyers can see what will work, and what won't. Gotta love patent trolls.

ok, I won't link the review because it's really quite dumb, but this line stuck out:

"One of my biggest complaints about the Q10 is the lack of a dedicated home button"

Ok, you can all see in my profile I have an iphone. THE biggest reason I will switch to something BBRY is not that I own stock, it is that I can't stand the home button, it makes me want to chuck this thing against the wall. In the stocks app and want to view a story linked there, fine it gets there, but now you want to go back to the stocks app? DOUBLE CLICK the friggin home button to popup the recently run apps and re-open the stocks app from there. Did I mention the home button is a POS that doesn't react all the time? so its more like 3 - 4 taps. End of rant. Home button indeed....lol

I was just about to post this:

FOSS Patents: Canadian licensing firm WiLAN requests U.S. sales ban of BlackBerry's latest, LTE-capable devices

Seems like it's 'inducement to infringe' by encouraging people to use LTE. Odd...

I totally agree with the iteration of the home button, but the masses are creatures of habit, example W8 with no "Start Menu".

A friend of mine who usually just rags on BlackBerry (and still does) admitted that after using the Z10 for a few days he found the home button on the iPhone to be the biggest downfall of that phone.

Okay since we are all starting to get to know one another somewhat intimately I will add a some personal info to the mix. I haven't really contributed much to the thread more of lurking then anything else but am on here pretty much all day reading everyone's comments. M8 I owe you some gratitude for keeping me in the game with your technical analysis, god knows there has been many times that I thought about throwing in the towel and dumping the stock. This past year I lost over $65k of my savings mostly in part to Apple's fall from grace, not to mention Znga and a few others. I don't mind sharing this info with people on this board as we have a very special thing going on here. If you been around like myself and by no means am I an older timer, you will realize how special this thread is.

Now regarding the car talk I have owned my share of high end cars, 911, E55, M5, X5, 545i, 540i, 530i, LR3 too many to list. I now drive a 2012 Jeep GC Hemi and the wife a 2010 Prius. It's taken me many years to realize about wealth and whats important in life, I too was one of those poor soles trying to Keeping up with the Joneses. I have a lot of friends that are extremely wealthy but most of them are miserable, they never seem to have the time to actually enjoy life. I myself am fortunate enough to have a job that allows me the freedom to be able to take my kids to and from school on a daily bases. Could I get a higher paying job and advance my carrier, sure but at a cost of not being able to spend as much time with my family.
My in laws are friends with the ex CEO of BBDO. Guy had a nice Mercedes or something. Once he retired he said he had it because they did adverts for Mercedes. He now drives a car worth 50k or so.

Verizon CEO: Apple-Google Duopoly Needs These Rivals | Wall St. Cheat Sheet

Verizon (NYSE: VZ) reaffirmed its commitment Wednesday to carry Windows and BlackBerry (NASDAQ: BBRY) phones, as both Nokia (NYSE: NOK) and BlackBerry struggle to dig in to the footholds of industry leaders Apple (NASDAQ: APPL) and Google (NASDAQ: GOOG). Verizon Chief Executive Officer Dan Mead pointed to substantial amounts of BlackBerry users still on the network, while noting the opportunity for Windows-powered phones in the U.S. market. This affirmation to Windows seems to be in line with expectations of Verizon carrying Nokia’s Lumia 928, a move that could prove quite valuable to the ailing Finnish phone producer, as well as its partner Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT).

Mead has pointed to Verizon’s self interest in diversification among the phones it sells, so that the company does not become increasingly dependent on iPhone and Android device sales. The chief executive also framed it as a way to manage costs; Verizon still pays large subsidies to Apple for the privledge of carrying the iPhone, an overhead that the carrier is trying to reduce. If indeed they do have success with the Lumia 928 and BlackBerry’s upcoming Q10 device, it could take pressure off the costs it incurs to larger handset manufacturers.
This also is an opportunity for embattled Nokia CEO Stephen Elop to prove the value for his company in remaining with Microsoft. The annual shareholder meeting in Helsinki proved to be somewhat hostile territory for the company’s leader, as calls to adopt Android or Symbian as an operating system tested Elop’s faith in Windows. A chance for its flagship Windows device to be carried by the largest carrier in the U.S. represents precious time for Nokia’s share price market share to increase under Elop’s leadership.

As for BlackBerry’s part, they have lost more than 33 percent of their market share in 2012, and head into the rest of 2013 with high hopes for their upcoming Q10. Earlier this year, BlackBerry’s Z10 was launched as the company’s banner carrier, but a report finding more returns than sales cited in The Wall Street Journal have marred progress towards regaining what was lost last year. However, the company has since disputed the findings of the report, stating in a press release that it would seek an SEC review.

Verizon’s Mead, though, remained optimistic about Q10 phone, noting specific demand which already exists for the device. He also pointed to his own company’s efforts to improve their LTE service, wanting to expand its capacities for video chat and HD voice in the future. They expect to launch an LTE voice over service by 2014, a service which will remove the need for a CDMA modem inside the phone. By taking the modem out of the phone, Verizon will integrate all data usage into their LTE network, and hopes to lower costs for themselves and consumers.

Same boat. Got my very first Blackberry (after 3 Androids, which were my only smartphones, before which it was typical old clamshells) on Sunday, a white Z10. No regrets on this switch at all - not yet, anyway. Full converts definitely exist; BlackBerry isn't merely keeping some of the old user-base.

It's really quite amazing watching a stock drop 5% on an ORCHESTRATED, COLUDED short BS report, have it refuted by a much more 'accurate' (well, than PacCrest, Cleveland?) analyst, and see it stay at NO gain.

Where are the institutional longs? This is bargain priced. I wish Prem would come in and buy another boatload to average down (from $17) and scare the shorts, maybe push a squeeze. It would be great for BBRY to say they are having a small buyback as well.
