Luckily I can take my Playbook and 9930 into my two hour boring meeting tomorrow morning. I'm wondering if tomorrow will be as exciting as we are hearing. There is the chance this thing will just continue business as usual with slight adjustments.
there WILL be fireworks tomorrow - one way or another

Just came across a thread that mentioned how BlackBerry will calculate the subscribers differently, starting with this ER. They will basically count all the users of BB, and not just the ones that are subscribing to BlackBerry services. If this is true, the reported number is certainly bound to be higher than the ~ 79 million.

Any thoughts on how this number will affect the post ER SP?
I like it. They just made the number useless on both sides of the fence. The shorts will have to concentrate on the service revenue number which still has every chance to be positive and above expectations.
You can see that the shorts have run out of fuel and I don't think they will get any mileage from this ER.
Maybe we will see a short squeeze.

I predict that the market will very quickly punish the stock if they discern that BBRY has switched calling subscribers those that they collect monthly revenue from to anyone that happens to turn on a blackberry device and log into a store (even through wifi). It renders the number even more meaningless than it previously was.

They will loose cash do to filling inventory lines. Opposite of how they saved cash in the last couple of quarters.

That is not "losing" cash. There is all kinds of accounting wizzardry I think. Just moving numbers around on the balance sheet isn't it?

No idea, but you can count on the bears to spin it negatively, saying that BB must have lost so many paying subscribers that they had no choice but to cover it up by obfuscating things.
In this not a lose-lose scenario for BBRY? Bears can spin it either way. If BB counts only subscribers subscribed to services, then the numbers will obviously go down since BB10 doesn't have the subscription model same way as BB7 and below. Bears will be all over that. And you already mentioned what may happen with the new calculation method.

I hope BBRY is pre-empting this and has a solution to put the bears in their place when it comes to this.

I'm thinking it's going to be good...better than expected with a 15% bounce. Thing is, no significant volume of fund managers will invest for a minimum of two more Q's...BlackBerry has their attention but must prove growth and earnings first.

Squeeze?...would be nice to see a spike to high twenty's

My prediction...come back this time next year and this is the ER where we go from 20's to high 30's low 40's....just my thoughts

The subscriber number was given to guide the street to the service revenue in the future. If it is changed in such a manner, how can the market conclude it to be anything other than a trick to decrease visibility of the service revenue?

Beer for me my friend. I'll sleep ok because I don't have as much invested as most of you. I just need to make some money to reinvest. Not going to sell and run with my whopping 4-5 hundred dollar profit.
