So did I understand this correctly, spend 425M to see 130M in revenue from Good's customers? I say that's a win.

Ohhh Chen! I see what your doing. You CIO's don't want to use BES12, we just buy all the companies that provide the service so you have to use BES.

BlackBerry to Buy Good Technology for $425 Million - WSJ

BlackBerry Ltd. said Friday it would buy closely held Good Technology Corp. for $425 million, in a move to further bolster the Canadian company’s efforts to sell mobile security software to government and corporate customers.

Stung by the dramatic drop in fortunes of its smartphone business since 2013, BlackBerry is betting in part on device-management software to reignite growth.

Good Technology, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., competes with BlackBerry in offering software that allows companies to manage mobile devices used by employees on corporate networks. By acquiring Good, BlackBerry eliminates a competitor to help bolster its competitive advantage against Citrix Systems Inc. and other rivals.

“Like BlackBerry, Good has a very strong presence in enterprises and governments around the world and, with this transaction, BlackBerry will enhance its sales and distribution capabilities and further grow its enterprise software revenue stream,” Chief Executive John Chen said in a statement.

The deal also provides BlackBerry with additional revenue, which has been under pressure amid a slow takeup of the company’s latest version of its mobile device management software.

BlackBerry said it expects to realize approximately $160 million in revenue from Good in the first year after closing.

John Chen ended Good Technology's party.

And the path to our $100 party begins! This is exactly the move most of us wanted to see BlackBerry do, by putting its cash hoard to use. Enterprise and governments looking for MDM / EMM solutions will like this move and the market and analyst will start to cheer once the market dominance is established. Watch for a big time trend reversal (more of a bounce from the base we've been establishing) to start TODAY. Even with the market tanking, BBRY is on its way up. Declining revenues are going to be a thing of the past.

The question is, will this be enough to revive the spirit of this thread. I hope everyone here has settled down and can get back on track to the wonderful thing that has kept us all going this long. I appreciate the effort by many members and mods to resolve our differences, but I think we owe it to CB and mostly to Superfly to keep this thing going. I want to see this thread hit 100k posts. I think a climbing stock price will make getting there a lot easier. BlackBerry is not dead after all. Cheers and Happy long Labor Day weekend, gang!

I think having an established workforce in Silicon Valley will also help. Good is based in Sunnyvale.

I first taught that was too much based on Good's marketshare.... but it seems they also has a lot of CASH. Which makes this a very safe move for BlackBerry. They gain customers and I imagine they gain some technology tools that will help BES to improve.

EDIT: Seems they have been burning cash..... so there might not have been much left. Hard to know with a private company.
