BlackBerry should have a sign and no tethering like that. The sign should read "steal me, I will be remotely bricked. And unlike my other friends, you can't root me so don't bother thinking that either. "

Lets keep in mind, that it's not unlimited free license per customer. I believe its 50/50 beyond that its paid license.
All this information can be viewed on Blackberry site.

    MP8,
Sorry for stepping on your turf, but I do appreciate the gesture....
Glad to hear that more good news is coming through. There definitely is some chatter about this company on the net.

Looking forward to some break out in few months but for now I'll let it chill until it's ripe!

Ha! Ha! Ha! You bugger! I'll let you make some purchases, I have a laundry list of stocks to buy right now. I'm looking at selling some naked puts on BlackBerry this morning too. I can't stop thinking about more HALO, the list is long, and then there is SPHS for my other half of the block. Friday's are great days for grabbing some stock. We are down on the Friday blues with weak wage numbers in the US and very low employment numbers in Canada.

I should tell you that I'm having some excellent talks with a senior member of the PSDV team. Nothing I can't talk about here but the company has a very interesting perspective on their products and I'm really warming up to that play now. I own it much lower but as long as it is sitting quietly at sub $ 4.10/shr, I want to be a buyer this year.

Good luck and I'll stand aside for you!!!

Although BlackBerry didn't get the same media attention as some of those other companies at CES i think we did get some really good news here. We got to see BlackBerrys vision for the future of the company. I can say I like what I've seen.

50 million qnx equipped cars. Many of the new ones which I believe BlackBerry is preparing to be BES managed. Great for some high margin subs fees.

Nanthealth is rolling out 100k users on its hbox. All managed and secured using hipaa compliant BES. Some more high margin subs fees. And probably many more to come and they expand this

I like that BlackBerry is positioning itself to extrapolate it's powerful tried and tested BES services on these "devices". Of course these are just a couple of verticals and I'm sure it can scale this service nicely. I'm sure many companies extending their products with IOT capability would appreciate this BES service. It will also allow companies to focus on their product and easily add IOT capabilities efficiently without needing to Build an internal software shop and manage servers etc.

I would even like this extended to the consumer in one form or another. Imagine having all your devices connect to your cloud BES and report a description of the service they provide. For example your light bulb support on off colour and intensity. Your tv supports on off channel recording hours etc. All interpreted by BES and presented as a single consice unified UI for the consumer. Got a new IOT fridge? No worries BES will know what It can do and give you the interface to do it. No need to 500 apps to control each of your IOT devices. If you think android fragmentation is bad imagine IOT frag.

Well maybe it's time for a startup. Supafly I'm a coder you're a coder. Let's hack it up.

Well, perhaps not a popular or accepted doctrine to some here, the pestilences that are happening to us were revealed long ago, and to those who believe, these days are to be expected. To those that don't, give this a read:

    http://ivarfjeld.com/2013/04/25/end-...ence-and-more/

If the page bores you, perhaps zip down to the grey text boxes for quotes that say it all.

BTW, awesome discussion lately fellas. Perhaps the best since SF birthed the thread.

what's the best way to play an Oil rebound? I think around $46 I want to start averaging in for an eventual recovery....$40ish should be a floor but it could rebound before that.

Just buy a double bull ETF on crude?
I bought some more PXE this week. More conservative than many on this threat, but I have limited time to pick stocks.

I welcome others' comments, but seemed like a reasonable play to me.

... and to further your statement:

And when you finally get frustrated to the point where you want to run away from BlackBerry by jumping into your car and dashing away, you will be wrapped in a QNX controlled vehicle that may be equipped with an OnStar system to monitor your location so that the Police will be easily able to locate your sorry self.
If you so decide to total your car, to destroy any evidence, and get banged up in the furious endeavor, you will land in a hospital streamlined by NantHealth...

... When you finally get released, you will get into a cab, which will be guided by an Internet of Things...

... Just steal another device lad.

Well, maybe the demand is enough to have a price increase?

Just like apple raising their app prices in Canada. The demand is there so charge what the market will support. Nobody want to leave money on the table.

Also, bell (all carriers) doesn't care about what phone they sell you. They care about how much data you'll consume and what stock is not moving in the supply chain. Sammy is know to pump new phone out faster then everybody else. Bell doesn't want old stock lying around so they jack the price on phones that are moving and in limited supply and lower the price on stock that is clogging the channel.
We all cheered when BlackBerry had their fire sale of old stock and moved, what was it, ~90% of the Zs and Qs out of the warehouse.

Maybe they anticipate sales to pick up once it launches officially in the US or from the recent BB developments at CES and of course getting greedy now

I clearly understand the concept of supply and demand. This does not benefit BlackBerry, it actually puts the brakes on, slowing down the movement for hardware . For example, I was wondering why the passport declined from top 20 in Amazon to almost out of top 100 spot. By Bell increasing their prices, they benefit from the proceeds. It clearly doesn't benefit BlackBerry bottom line. But the good sign from this is that corporate sales are good.

As for Apple app currency picking, I would be more inclined to think that Apple is having problems increasing their bottom line. I would keep both my eyes on apple at this stage.

I think that we don't know enough yet to make conclusions.
But price increases usually suggest that turnover rate is not a concern. The Amazon sales rating is harder to read. Is it the tail end of the initial bump, or are people holding off for the $199 AT&T version? If I was in the same situation, I would wait and save 400 bucks.

I totally agree with you, it's early. I'm not saying that there is any correlation between the two. But I used it as an example. The price increase would make someone think twice about which hardware to go with. Remember carriers don't give a ???? about BlackBerry, only their bottom line.

Some good points. Yes, no matter what Bell or any other carrier decides, it affects BB.

Hopefully for the better in the big picture.

Re: Amazon vs At&t... only those in the "know" would wait it out to save the dough (if they are with or going with AT&T) .... but highly doubt the masses are aware to affect anything just yet.
Also, the Amazon ratings and success were based on BlackBerry enthusiasts....and now it's coming to an end since most have probably bought or decided upon it. Imo.

I think once AT&T launches, it will gain A LOT more traction / notice with the masses (atleast I hope so)

I think I am getting a Classic. I really like the Passport but short space-bar key and it being on the same row as other letter keys is messing with me. I don't think I can get used to that. I can get used to missing symbols and numbers on physical keyboard and using touch for it. But short space-bar key in between letter keys is messing w me.

Q10 to Classic is not really an upgrade. But what the hell, will get it anyway. Hopefully Passport 2.0 would be slightly narrower and have 4 row-touch-sensitive physical keyboard.
