OT - Hey Morgan! Glad to see your are back strong in BBRY. I was looking at $CBMX at these levels and was wondering what you think of the company? They have been good at acquiring recent contracts, etc but a quick thought would be much appreciated as I know you like to keep it short on a BB thread. Thanks in advance!

What about if you bought it three years ago?

I was waiting for it to drop below 9.80 so I can buy but it seems to have studied itself at around 9.9ish.

    Thanks!

As for CBMX, it is an interesting stock! They are rebuilding this one, it had a 10:1 consolidation in its share float and they now have some cash. So the books are clean and the share float is tiny making it an interesting trade on good news. Now there isn't much info on the pipeline so it is a gamble but one worth taking. The stock have been basing out for almost a year now and to buy it on days like today, makes sense. You need to know that they will have to raise capital a bunch of times over the next couple of years as their cash on hand won't get them too far. The good thing about raising cash is the huge run-up that you get when they dump those shares! LOL

    Hi tatial!!

Welcome to the board!! The best way to reach me is by posting to this thread. I read it every day but rarely see my mail as it is too over-whelming for me right now. If you ask a question here, I'm 99% likely to answer it within a day. As for your question about BBRY and whether now is a good time to get into it. Only you can decide what's best for you. I have no idea what your background in investment is, your tolerances are, or, your financial situation is.

I do tell the board what I'm up to but everyone needs to know from my profile that I own a ton of BBRY stock at all times, I can live with this investment forever, and, I like to do a bit of technical based trading once in awhile and I CAN be wrong! Having said all of that, I sold out of BBRY this very week (retirement fund only) at $ 10.82/shr and I remarked that I would be out for a 10% drop back to roughly $ 9.80/shr where I would take all of the proceeds and buy BBRY again. So we are down here and as you might guess, I'm about to go back in! None of this means I'm suggesting that you do the same. My choice is due to the breaking of the very long downtrend line and what was resistance is now support. That doesn't mean that the DOW Jones won't drop another 1,000 pts. this time around which was one of the reasons I sold out of most of my holdings in other stocks, I felt the DOW was running too high in here.

I'll let you get back to your decision and I'll post my trade to the board when it happens. GL
Thank you very much for the reply, much appreciated.

I actually went ahead and bought it. As for my tolerance, last year I sold all my positions at 12+ a share and then bought it back at 16+ until recent time I was in the red zone and I was the only person convincing myself that it will be alright and things will turn green. Which finally has.

As for experience with stocks, I have no clue. I am total noob. BBRY was my first investment in Nov 2012 and that's all there is to it.

I do have a question, someone suggested that I buy now and hold it for three years.
Can you explain the long term benefit of holding stock vs taking opportunity sell at high buy back at low?

    thanks again.

The benefit of holding is general peace of mind, and better blood pressure (the main benefit in my opinion lol). Also, and this is what you are looking for an answer to, it is bloody impossible to keep timing things correctly over the long term. Add that fact to the charges you will incur for the trades, and it's generally better to take a long view and hold. If you Google Warren Buffett on this issue, you will find a great answer.

What do you think of Wi-lan ticker WIN and WILN. I've been following this company for the last 3 years and was thinking about buying in at these low low levels. Just wondering if you are familiar with this company

Well, I'm in good company if you purchased today too! Let's make some money. I will tell you that I'm thinking of selling some Calls, or writing some Call Options against the shares that I purchased today. I'm looking at selling the Feb $ 10.00 strike calls for $ .85/shr each so that my purchase will be taken away from me if the stock is above $ 10.00 in February. I get the equivalent of just over a buck profit on this strategy. I think the stock can be over $ 10.00 and I know I'll lose those shares, but the RSI will also be sky high again if we rally from here so I'm thinking of going for it as I have already gained a buck this week and now I have more leverage to make even more. If BBRY pops to $ 10.15/shr I'll get filled on this strategy.

Now, to comment on your idea of trading the stock, I'm one of those who don't mind trading some of my holdings. I do it all the time, not so much with BBRY but with many of my pharma stocks and of course, IAG. The problem with trading for short-term gains is that you could miss a major news event. I figure that news comes in around once a month on BBRY so our allotment of news is out there for now. We know that BES10.2 is launching, we know about BB 10.2.1 and we should be seeing voice and video cross-platform for other phones so I think I can take a chance on the RSI reading for a month or so.

If you can come up with a formula for trading the stock, all the power to you, I'll post to the board whenever I trade, but please don't take my trades as gospel, I'm merely being open about my personal moves in BBRY keeping in mind that I hold onto a large block of the stock anyways. If I sell those options I'll post it to the board and everyone can follow along and see how well that worked out for me! The thing is, this is my retirement account and I can trade it all day without the paperwork and tax issues of my regular account.

There is no doubt that luck is involved. Looks like BBRY is trying to fight it's way back and is doing quite well when you look at the rest of the market!

    Have a great weekend, Sir!

WIN is something that I won't invest in for several reasons, the first that they are leaching off other companies with lawsuits and that might eventually make them some money but it is worse than any other business model that I can respect. I'd invest in the porn industry before I would buy WIN. I have followed this company for many years and they could never make it as services/hardware entity, they are doing well now in the court rooms of America but that's not for me. Couple all of this with their modest Balance Sheet and I'll stand aside. They report EPS this coming week so you might see a nice pop if the numbers look good so who knows! I can't do it though, when they went after BlackBerry, that was it for me. Good luck with it and do trade it for short term gains if you dare!

    On other news, we're back over $10 (10.07 as I'm typing) !
