The numbers from France, UK, Spain and Mexico really worry me. Seems to have no traction at all. That is surprising and a little scary.

    More cowbell SF!!!!!!
Will try to get some "official" sound for France. Will report if any.

UK is a very price concious market and I would think the loss of BIS is beginning to show a backlash there
I'm from the UK, from my experiences 99.9% of the people don't know what BIS is, all they know is:

"It cost's an extra fiver (5.00) a month for bbm"

^ That is what they consider as "BIS".

For those very few who have upgraded to BB10 are rejoicing because they don't have to pay that extra bit for BIS aka BBM as they now get it "free" as part of their data package.

That's an excellent point - I pay for my Nieces's phones and yes they wanted them for BBM and would have no idea what BIS is.

The Z10 is an absolute bargain just now in the UK and should (hopefully) improve those numbers.

When I look at these numbers, I care more about how effective is BB10 at stopping the bleed and reversing the trend.
Most people would agree that the US market could be a deciding factor, I will focus on it for now.
Since the release of BB10 in March 2013, the sales share number went from 0.9% to 1.2% ending in July 2013 (according to Kantar numbers).
Not a huge jump, but I would say that the trend is reversing (at least for now).
These numbers probably do not count enterprise sales, so it would be interesting to see...

    BlackBerry's Z10 cost ought to be ~$325.

    Here is why -

BlackBerry sold z10 to its employees for $99. This resulted in a taxable benefit of $225. That makes BlackBerry z10 $324 (not $400).

That's why we sideload. We are getting many good apps for what people call dismal sales. Give a year and then we can complain about apps.

Side loading is definitely not the answer. Too complicated for the average consumer and usually not permitted on corporate phones. For the tech inclined folks it is great option to have, but side loading isn't an excuse or going to work in the general public. I am not sure BBRY has a year in the US consumer market. Enterprise, absolutely has another 6+ months but the reality is that the US consumer window is slamming shut as we speak.

I think he is implying the year with the new generation phones should look a lot better market share wise than the year without any new phones at all.
