I, like you, have seen charts all over the place. Yes, they allow me to gain "visualization to historic data" but VERY SELDOM have I found things so predictable from the past, that I would depend on it.

Much has to do with the "chart maker".
Agreed. But in the purest sense the "chart maker" is (or, I would say, "should be") the empirical raw data itself (open, high, low, close, for instance). It's the studies that gets would-be chartists into trouble, wouldn't you agree? For example, I might plot a 65-day moving average (MA) against a 200-day moving average and make an investment decision when the fast MA crosses above the slow MA; another chartist might use a 50-day MA against a 100-day MA and look for something similar. His study might signal a buy when mine doesn't, and vice versa. That's why, in general, I try not to wed myself to any particular study but instead try to work from broad support- and resistance-price levels and factor-in the "feel" of the stock (based on news, hype, demand, etc.). I think it's hard to make a case that if BBRY can break above, say, $16.50 with some conviction (i.e., strong volume) that short sellers won't either bail or begin to pop Lomotil tablets as if they were M&Ms.

I would also agree that no one should ever "depend" on a chart just as no one should depend on ValueLine, Jim Cramer, YangFui , or anyone or anything else. However, I think we can agree that we're all here primarily because there is something about playing the odds and trying to figure out whether they're possibly enough in our favor that we can experience the financial thrill for being "right". Sharing each other's observations and takes (even the occasional opposing view) is actually quite awesome.

I'll probably continue to update my chart every so often if for any other reason than as an academic exercise. I'm very curious whether $16.50 (or thereabout) proves to be the price point at which a short squeeze begins. If that turns out to happen, it just might provide some people on this forum with an real-life (versus textbook) example that shows how charting can be useful even if not always reliable.

From the change in tone in his posts, it would appear he is trying to fit in here. You'll notice he's not so agressive and hints at wanting to go "long", but is in a pickle due to his previous posts. Perhaps if he had an honest chance at fitting in here he'd change his tune for good? Just a thought I had......

Yeah, I read those. If he's still posting like that then that's on him on why he's not really welcome here. I thought maybe he stopped that and was trying to fit in here as a regular. See what I get for caring.. lol

Apple Inc. will argue for a comprehensive corporate tax reform that will levy a “reasonable tax” on foreign earnings and is not dependent on a company’s revenue when it goes before a Senate panel on Tuesday to explain its offshore tax practices.

Let him (wether he is "our" bear or not) mastubate with 0.0xx% daily gains. I'm up 30% or such and didn't spend a dime on tax or fees.
He can claim he did better (with other stocks ?), I don't give a sheet. That's his job (pretending it is), that's just a hobby for me.

Central Oklahoma is right in the tornado belt and my family sees tornados every year. You would be surprised at how many people know tornados are coming and still don't have a shelter in the back yard. Trailer parks are the exception, although I don't see why people would want to live in one when you can rent or own a cheap house instead.
