Short Interest
I like #3 as well. But it is long for TV.
if I look back to the trend line before the ER, it seems to match up pretty well with what we've been seeing for the passed three days. which means there was a flurry of day trading around the earnings and things have settled as the big players have gone on to other things.
we want low volume, low volatility, a slow, stealthy increase in the share price to go with a steady stream of slowly increasing sales. then the shorts can cut their losses and move on. Once that happens the remaining bear analysts will be able to change their recommendations and we'll get a health pop in the share price. but im just talking out of my azz.
Anyone check out the action today in FSLR, talk about a short squeeze, damn!
Well that would be a good day!!
Can't see the future, but this seems inevitable.
With yet another rise in short interest (which by the way I think a portion of that got covered already), and no bad news about lately, I don't see it being unreasonable. I think if BBRY were to have a short squeeze, it would be more than a 45% rise though. There are far too many short positions.
Nice. There's been a lot of chatter lately...I'm glad it lifted off for investors.
NICE! Shorts up and volume dropping. Wooo hoooo! :beer::beer::beer::beer:
Yep - this is just fantastic. There is no logic behind this but my hunch is that we'll see short-squeeze once we cross $25 mark. And I think we are going to be $25 by September, if not by June ER.
Do you really think they'll wait that long to feel the squeeze? I know they have deep pockets but there have been millions of shares shorted in the range we are in now, and lower. I can't see them waiting until the stock is upwards of 75% higher to cover their losses.
Ok I just finished those beers now I'm wasted and still at work thanks.
I don't see your problem.
Sometimes you have to take one for the team buddy! Man up.. ;)
His problem is drinking six virtual beers without even offering us one. Like he was hiding them, looking both ways before using ninja like moves to devour those in stealth. :)
Well def not ninja like after about the third, you guys are just a little slow I guess
My thought too. Wouldn't they want to cover their losses as soon as the opportunity presents itself?
Dumb question. How is a rise in short interest good news? Or was it sarcasm?

Fear that shorts had gone away with the volume so stock was just flat, not being held down.

Sorry, that was a lame post. I was trying to cook and post at the same time.
It is good news to me that the short interest has gone up at the same time as the share price. Also, the volume has died down so it will be hard for them to cover. It also means that the shorts are not all day traders that disappeared with the volume. These shorts are committed.
If the shorts and longs are going to have a battle...Let's have a real doozie!
Here's my question? What triggers the short squeeze.I figure regular investors like you and me can't cause this. We help I'm sure with holding strong. But I figure dirty companies like Goldman are the ones who set the final trigger and screw all the shorts out of their money. It's like the stock needs to get to a place where when Goldman orders its game over for shorts. Like short investors are being lead to the slaughter and are being told lies lol.
Yup, we need a big trigger, like a DoD contract, or another huge earnings surprise, or a big partnership announcement... and the bulls will end this really quickly.
True, We retail investors are powerless in this game, End of the day all shorts, media and dirty companies like Golman, MS sleep in the same bed and sucks the juice out of us. Just matter of finding the trend and riding it. Very difficult. The volume fluctuation dictates this, before fall 2012 the avg volume was about 20mil, then day traders and manipulators walked in and avg went up to 50-60 mil, now they finished eating it, back to 20 mils. I think it will rise before earnings report but some of us are in red in the mean time. Stay long and hard we will be rewarded.
