Toronto doesn't have after-market/pre-market sales.i google cnbc pre/after market and it shows US stocks RIMM. How do I find rim.to?
Someone must have offloaded 1M shares
Sent from my BlackBerry 9930
If RIM were to trade in Canada pre-open/after-hours it would probably be on Chi-X Canada, and you can sort of get a trade history directly off Chi-X's website ( Chi-X Canada > Home ).
If you want a quote in U$ then simply google "NASDAQ:RIMM" and you can get an extended hours quote. However, if you hold RIM in C$ you may not find it helpful.
As a reminder, the earnings report is coming out today ( BlackBerry maker RIM to report third-quarter earnings ) so consult a professional, or better yet, get licensed and become one!
I have a question as I'm very new to the stock market world..... So here it is, the day of the ER. I'm watching the stock go up slightly as a whole and with a fair amount of volume. What would be the reasoning behind this? I thought, and quite possibly ignorantly so, that most would be waiting the results of tonights announcement? Would it be a whole lot of people looking to short?
Stock is going up because more people are convinced that the news will be good. But fact is, no one knows. It could go either way. Also, not everyone is betting on the news, some are betting on BB10 so they're positioning themselves for a long term investment rather than tomorrow's hiccup.
So, if the news is good. We can expect the price to shoot up to $15 tomorrow? It was $14 just few days ago!
It's possible, 7% increase isn't unusual. Especially if the shorts get squeezed. But the drop could be far worse.
I got in on that dip. 740 shares at $13.48 Just shy of $10k.
:D
Now I truly have 10k reasons to BB10 Believe!!!
Come on BlackBerry, don't fail me now.!
On another interesting note, selling a million shares worth over 13 million didn't even make a dent. It instantly rebounded. Doesn't it make you feel small and insignificant for us traders that are selling only hundreds or thousands of shares?
Stock is having a big jump ahead of earnings. You think some people know what's coming?
It might be something leaked...
Beats on everything. Time to pop bottles!
Looks like revenue was a slight beat and loss was narrower than expected, Generated almost a billion in cash. Sold 6.9 units. Very early read on report.
nice 3.4% uptick so far on the TSX today...
I wouldn't pop it yet, that's what Red Sox fans did in 1986 and then the ball went thru Buckner's legs. I t looks good but I'd wait to drink.
And with the news, NYSE after hours trading is up over $15..... at last glance, it's at $15.19
Think it's safe now. Cristal is off ice and in my mouth.
How many shorts now? Has short-squeeze already occurred or is it yet to occur? How much short interest right now? I mean, the longer the shorts wait, the worse it is for them. So, short-squeeze should have already occurred by now. Specially, when RIM's earning call wasn't as bad as had been feared.
$15
$14.60
$14.3
$13.88
$12.90! :(
in after hours trading at Research in Motion Ltd., RIMM Stock Quote - (NASDAQ) RIMM, Research in Motion Ltd. Stock Price
And headed lower.. currently at $12.52
Ooops....
pfiooouuu ... -11.19%. Ok let's stay calm. After/pre market are strange beasts ... we'll se tomorow.
(and don't forget the joy shouts when we broke $12 ;))
The results were good. The only thing Im not happy with is the fact that their subscriber base went down 1 million users. That is a first for RIM (declining userbase). BB10 should\will remedy that but as a shareholder I would tread carefully.
I still think in the long run RIM is going to be more than fine. I would rate it as a hold.
And this is how the shorts played it:
5:36 p.m. First question is about the tiering of services.
5:38 p.m. Credit Suisse analyst wants to know more about changes to the service fees.
5:39 p.m. Citi analyst asks about other mobile device management products.
5:45 p.m. Goldman Sachs analyst asks again about the services revenues, which are likely to see a decline over the next year or so.
5:48 p.m. Morgan Stanley analyst wants to know about the service contracts.
The shorts knew what the weak point would be and exploited it. We'll see how this plays out tomorrow.
I don't think it was the ER that made it drop... I think it was the conference call that followed. Dropped from up over $15.35 before to $12.70 and lower during and after. I didn't catch the whole call but I believe the downward sentiment has to do with the future of service revenues. Don't quote me on that but that's what I could gather and speculate.
