You really think any company anywhere would make that level of contact details public? Seriously, all bbry shareholders need to know is if bbry revenues from BBM licensing are increasing or decreasing.
Agree...sp is more bouyant than I prefer
They can tell us the general pricing model. If it's rev share or user or flat.
Without that, talk of BBM rev growth is just a prayer.
Sorry to bore some of you who are now accustomed to hear regularly of hacking of large firms -- everyone will eventually financially suffer for those too often regular goof-ups.
SEC hack: Why it's a really big deal - Sep. 21, 2017
"Information like this moves stock prices -- and it lives on the computer network of the Securities and Exchange Commission before it ever becomes public knowledge. Hack the network and trade the stock, and you can make easy money. The regulatory agency, whose job is to keep investors on a level playing field, says its network was hacked last year, possibly allowing intruders to make money by getting their hands on crucial financial information before everyone else.
The network is called Edgar -- Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis and Retrieval. All filings that publicly traded companies are required to disclose are sorted and posted there. The hypothetical corporate disclosures listed above are just a sampling of the valuable information.
The disclosure is an embarrassment for the agency, which issued guidelines to companies in 2011 on when companies have to alert the public after they are hacked. As an example the agency took action in May against a person who sought to profit by posting a bogus offer on Edgar to buy Fitbit (FIT), sending the stock up about 8% on the false news."
Yeah...in fact even just breaking it out at all would be helpful. Chen promised some changes to the reporting in the near future so hopefully we'll see a bit more transparency ( i.e. breakouts) on some of these vehicles. If SAF is going zero, and hardware isn't meaningful, they need a better reporting framework.
That would help a lot. The guesswork isn't helping the SP, IMO. If they have a good story, they should tell it more clearly.
@ rarsen
MATE! you never bore me!!!
Thanks and cheers!!

Another piece of news / announcement after hours today. Has everyone realized that BlackBerry is doing this almost daily before ER?
Remember BlackBerry hired high profile banker from wall street a short while ago? Is the change because of him?
@ BlackBerry, please spend some of that capital on QNX, if not then on my beer.
Note, if predicting yesterday's charts into future movement is your thing, remember that there is no guarantee in life itself. Bbjdog quote.
Basic chart!

Morgan, any chance you could parce those lines for us. I can make out the time, the price and a guess at the volume and trader involved.
Maybe it just looks funny on the app and is ok online?

While it's nice news, it won't move any needle.... partnerships, major inroads in Radar, QNX, IP, etc would be more material.... Let's see if revenues continued their downward spiral or whether guidance is better than most expect...

Sure, here is a pic of the same data from yesterday:

TD Bank appears to be more active this week. This morning they are at 100,000/shrs.
Some additional information on financial implications for Equifax, maintaining doubts that common sense is not so common about basic security knowledge (face in palm!):
Equifax under pressure from banks to shape up
https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/eq...--finance.html
"U.S. consumer credit reporting bureau Equifax Inc risks losing support from banks unless it can show its database on millions of borrowers is secure from another cyber-attack. Banks are critical to Equifax's operations as they give the company information on consumer debts and payments which it compiles into credit reports sold to other creditors, including mortgage and credit card lenders, landlords and hospitals. Equifax has lost $5.8 billion of stock market value since Sept. 7, one-third of what its shares were worth before the breach was disclosed.
Brian Gudmundson, a lawyer at Zimmerman Reed in Minneapolis, said he is preparing for a possible suit on behalf of thousands of lenders against Equifax. "There are going to be costs that we're not even imagining right now," said Gudmundson, who represented lenders in a $39 million settlement with Target Corp in 2015 over a cyber-breach of its credit card system."
Equifax is in a lot of well deserved trouble here, and there is a bigger existential risk now to that whole business as banks invest more in decentralized credit reporting.
It seems the drop in short position for BB.TO was correct! BlackBerry no longer shows up in the Top 20 Largest - Consolidated Short Position Report. And Bombardier for example dropped by the same amount as in the previous overview (- 72,59 million shares) that seemed too good to be true - so that's very good news?!
Posted via CB10
That's just crazy... look the the IMMENSE drop in short positions for various mining stocks, Bombardier and BlackBerry?! Is this a single major fund or what triggered these organizations to suddenly cover?

From this morning: RBC
Apologies for the poor quality. Trying to get something better.
Merrill Lynch:
Merrill Lynch report in its entirety.
There are some things worth reading in there (Fedex, Radar, etc.).

Stock tanking..reasons? Leaks of bad er?... chen's credibility on the line if guidance poor....
Posted via CB10
Because....BlackBerry. Good news=Downgrade. Negative analyst reports are stuffed into desk drawers waiting for good news to bring them out. Nothing much has changed that way for 5 years. BBRY is a trading stock as well as long term investment.
Speaking for myself, I don't think Chen's guidance is that credible to me anymore anyway. It's a data point, but this is not a company that has a track record of exceeding expectations. What I'm hoping for is better transparency, cessation of the shell games in reclassifying revenue from quarter to quarter, and solid results in the software/services segment.
I'm cautiously bullish long term (for technology/product reasons), but not short term. It's possible they just finished an amazing quarter with >$230M Rev, but it's much more likely, I think, that they didn't. So I would expect the next buying opportunity for me to be soon *after* we see the results.
